I bought a copy several years ago at Hendon, his fine book about making of the movie , The Battle of Britain. Sadly it got water damaged , been looking for another copy and its rare and out of print. Even wrote him before his passing and he told me he had no copies left and no future reprint was in the future. Saw this price at a book seller , over $900 dollars wanted to this book.

    What !!!

    This one ?????

(Just sat on my shelf & never been read)

    Lanc no go

    Oh dear, thats a shame.

Although i cant help seeing pic’s of that Shackleton lying on the desert floor after a similar attempt… and wondering.

But having said that, i cant recall any incident where a warbird has been lost flying over the pond, all the B-17’s and B-24’s made it ok.

Is this the one with the Land Rover with rotors??

Yes, but….. its actually a Willys Jeep, and even then not the original Rotabuggy.

This is a ‘recreation’ built around a standard jeep.

Although i seem to recall at article in ~the other mag~ about the Rotabuggy project. Anyone know which issue ?

    Is that canopy original?

    Jay

No, Ian (the owner) has had to make a pair due to the scarcity of the real thing.

However, if you read his post on the thread Two seat Harrier photographs he has acquired a front frame, plus a rear frame & perspex.

Perhaps you can help locate parts for preserved Harrier cockpits ?

Who was the guy on the left Andy ?

Wasn’t he something to do with keeping the Shackleton airworthy in the states ?

Phil Chalk or something like that ?

You have saved the image too large and to get inder the posting size saved it as too low a Jpeg quality.

I have re-sized it to 700 pixels wide but cant do anyhing about the pixelation because of the quality of the original image

Could you possibly also bung this picture in the ‘Two seat Harriers’ thread please ?

As somehow it looks relevant ! 😉

Wrongest? Surely not, those glos black Navy versons can look oddly attractive, well from some angles!

Humm, you could be correct Will, I’ve heard some women say that too ! :diablo:

    Mark,

I think it was all in the balance.

I believe they tried various seating positions, but at the end of the day, i think the fact everything needs to balance each end of the Pegasus pendulum ‘swung’ it 😀
