And what’s “BBC POCCNN”?
That`s VVS Russia…the Russian Airforce. I think that aircraft flew on May 9th the Victory Day Parade over St. Peter Square.
That picture is fake. That`s a Hungarian Airforce MiG-21.

er, why do you put my id as author of another poster’s quote?
I apologize. It was a mistake which was corrected.
Fear from Russian invasion is based on some facts:
-from 1711 until 1944 Russians invaded us 18 times;
-last time we also lost ~ 50,000 sq. km of territory together with ~ 1,800,000 ethnic Romanians; many of those were deported by Stalin in Siberia and Central Asia;
-they impose an communist regime that transformed a rather prosperous country (per capita GDP in 1938 was higher than Greece or Portugal) into one of the least developed in Europe. But yes, to many it may seem paranoia.
BTW, we weren’t always friends with US. In fact, for ~ half year in 1944 we clashed with USAAF (USAF ancestor). But today situation is different.
Are you for real? In what reality are you living? Fear of Russian invasion? You really make me laugh. No one in Romania fears that. No one! I am certainly not afraid of that. Due to our bad relations with Russia we pay the most expensive price for natural gas in Europe.
By your logic we should be afraid of the Turks, Hungarians, Tatars, Mongols, Italians, right? How many times did the Turks invaded Romania?
Back on topic: I, as a Romanian tax payer, don`t want to pay for junk. The idea to exchange 30+ year old MiGs with 20+ year old Lawn Darts is just over my level of understanding. If we want to make agriculture with jet fighters, 2nd hand F-16s is the solution.
I, as a Romanian tax payer, would pay for new aircraft knowing that in the long term military aviation won’t transform itself into comets killing good men.
And how do you know that Romanians do not support US missile shiled ? I’m curious.
I don’t.
The (future) F 35 buy […] it will still be less expensive than EF/Rafale.
Any basys for that assumption?
I wonder how old ar these F-16 planes. The Lancers are around 30 years old.
LOL….and the wars have started. It took off just yesterday and today there’s a hot debate about its construction and capabilities.
Remember that the F-22 or 35 prototypes were quite different than the production models. Be sure that the T-50 will suffer a lot of modifications in the future before production is started.
Please, allow the aircraft to evolve before judging it.
Anyhow, I`ve got my popcorn ready.
That’s why I am asking, because Zhukosky has a history with first flights.
He also said “[we’re] also evaluating several locations for the first flight- either KnAAPO, or another place”.
Do they plan to keep the first flight a secret also? Why is so important the location for the first flight?
No Rafale and Typhoon pictures?
One thing is for sure: if they wanna keep a secret, they can.
RSAF T-33s again

scan from the book “Warsaw pact Air Forces” by Hans-Heiri Stapfer, page 64
The picture with the Romanian Alouette, could it be taken at Alexeni? The background (although it’s not much) is very familiar to me. I grew up on that base.
UH-60 or S-76 or whatever, costs more because it has features the other machine doesn’t have.
Such as?
Quality also comes with a price.
I really don’t understand your point. Especially when talking about Mi-8/17 – which kinda is my terf. So being a cheap product it’s not that qualitative, right?
Let me put it this way:
does it do its job as it was designed? yes
does it do its job in the most harshest environments (read Siberia)? yes
is it cheap? yes
is it easy to maintain? yes
Why should I search for anything else? Why should I pay twice or more the price of a Mi-17 for the same or lesser capabilities?
