    This was real fun.
    Watching and listening online. 🙂
I was lucky with in my eyes the most beautiful and correct panel in that auction. The Bf 109 G-2 for GBP 1050,- Thanks to HP!!!

The Ju 88 panel went as a bargain, too. only GBP 620,-
    Someone must be lucky now.

The Revi 16D went for 1550,-
The KG 13 control grip with the column and a bit of Bf 109 E on it went for GBP 3300,- 😮 The Bf 109 tail fin went for GBP 5600,- Oh my god, now you can guess, how much a complete Bf 109 might cost.

    Hello Laurent

The Hurricane U/C indicator is the only part I miss for my Hurricane instrument panel.
    You´ve got a PM. 😀

    Yes Bruce, you are right.
Some of my friends are also putting tarnish to their panels, that they look like the old ones.
When I take a closer look to the panels I only could definitely say, that the Bf 109E, Ju 88 and the second Bf 109K panel are replicas because of missing some construction details originals would have and have never been at that ones.
The others I can´t be sure of without taking a look at the back and looking for the engraved numbers, the metal panels should obtain.

But I don´t want to start a discussion, the parts are all veeeery nice and I feel thankful that HP gives us the chance to bid on these items.

    Hello my friend
As far as I can tell by the pictures and as far I have experience with that stuff:
The three grips with the makers label look quite original.
There are modified MIGs around, replica bits, modern screws, etc. but I think with these there is all fine.
The silver shining (polished) one looks strange, especially with no makers label.
KG 13B were used at Bf 109 and others as well.

The instruments in the instrument panels also look quite original as far as I can tell by the pictures.
A lot of the instruments in the panels are not the correct ones, but can easily be changed.
I´m quite sure, that all panels are replicas because they miss some specific marks. Original ones would also have to start with GBP 2000,- because they are practically none existant anymore. By the way, the “Bf 109 F” panel is a G-2 version.
I only doubt one valuable instrument of one of the instrument lots.
Looks quite like a professionally produced replica and not all of the Bf 109 instruments are correct for Bf 109.
    However a very nice collection.

    Herbert

There is only one problem regarding the Luftwaffe instruments.
There are a lot of fakes around, not only in Germany, we had a faked repeater compass and RPM indicator from the USA as well.
So from only front pictures it´s impossible to see, if it´s original or faked.
The differences of the layout are very minimal as you can see at this page:
    http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/instrumente/katalog/Katalogmenue/web/new%20site/frames2/KatalogMenue.htm
    see “Achtung Kopie!”

Original metal instrument panels must have an engraved number at the back, also not to be seen from the catalogue. Panels made of wood must have the original paint, so that you can guess, if it´s an original or not.
So if you bid online you have to take a risk.
Original Luftwaffe panels would be worth thousands of Euro, replicas about 200 to 800,-

    Well, I´ll bid.
Either I´ll have bad luck being outbid or I´ll be bankrupt 😀

Bf 110. There are only two complete left.
Well, a He 219 would be interesting, too. An instrument panel for that project would be available 😀

    Thanks TT
By the way, I´ve accidentally got the engine speed indicators from different sources with serial number 27824 and 27838 .
So only 13 pieces between them. After 60+ years 😮

    He 219 Uhu

Hmm…seems, I didn´t show my He 219 Uhu panel yet.
The panel itself was cut from a plate of the correct material stamped 1944. It´s a “phenolharzgetraenktes Buchenpressschichtholz” 😀

I have a piccie of the Whirlwind prototype, she had a 400 mph ASI.
As someone stated earlier, the pilots notes have 480 mph ASIs.

Might not be in that case but as example the pilot notes of the Spitfires are quite misleading. Because they show pre-production cockpits. So the picture of the pilot notes of the Mk IX shows clearly a modified Mk V panel, of the Mk XIV a modified Mk VII panel.

After Al´s bible (illustrated guide to British Aircraft Equipment 1939-1945) the Mk IXD 60-400MPH fits the Whirlwind, Hurricane, Spitfire I and II, Defiant, Beaufighter, Albermarle, Manchester and Halifax.

The 480MPH for Spitfire V onwards, Mosquito and Warwick.

    Herbert
