Hello Wellington welcome to the forum the link below is one where you may find some more clues to your questions. I have tried in vain I may add to get to the site that use to list all (known) German aircraft claims by Tony Woods to see if there is any mention of his a/c being shot down, by one of there night fighters. Though it could have just flak? But I seem to get the error not found page come up, more work is needed by me for sure! Any way try posting you qestion here. Regards

Guy Gibson his dog and his popsie

Popsie is an officers slang for young lady. Mostly just the RAF and it was most used during the 1930’s and 40’s. It was definately an upper class affectation!
As to Gibsons dog well wasn’t it a black Labrador.
And as to Martin Shaw well he has an imposing narative voice, so I suppose as well as him have an interest in the world of aeronatics, also as a keen pilot he was well suited for the role. certainly better than his portraying of D.I George Gently BBC 1

I agree about keeping it 1:1 scale, but if it is going to be done put it at the Southamton Hall of Aviation. It should cost a lot less than 2 million too, but looking at their new £19 million cruise shed, I expect they’ll be able to share out £2 million with an equally dismal result. Also ask the few surviving WW2 pilots what they think of this idea first. So’ton should consider using such funds to sponsor a flying Spitfire based in Eastleigh, in my view.

I was waiting for a flight at Eastleigh yesterday. A cruise ship that looked more like a ro-ro car carrier with windows had discharged passengers who were flying home through the airport. They were all busy talking about the bingo halls aboard these ships, and flight delays. Putting a 100 foot wingspan Spitfire in front of these people would only bewilder them. So’ton should spend money in better ways.

I counldn’t agree more “Peals before swine” I think the saying goes Perhaps someone should just tell the city council ?

Mousehole Aerodrome

The untold Battle of Britain

Am I missing something here?

Well Stuart I must be missing it too!

Is it not documented in all the Battle of Britain books also?

As It was the nearest RAF station to my Mums house and we always knew of its Polish connections.

Anyway it was well worth watching, though I got the feeling that some of the air to air shots were nothing we had not seen before. Still refreshing good to know that the brave Poles that escaped from the enemey are not forgotten.

What can we spot

Well firstly the airman look very much like Poles? Reserves, and the ring on which the gun is mounted has the two pully type ( probably two more that are hidden from veiw) wheels for travel around the outer ring which would have been fitted in the aeroplane.
Of course I am more than likely missing the most obvious things and no doubt will be taken to task over it . But the best of luck in your project.
