As an aside here… is there an active 502 Sqn association anywhere that may have further information available?
No there isn’t an active one for 502 Sqdn but there was one for 58 Sqdn which was always on the same aerodrome. If the chap that ran it is still with us.
As to the pictures, the one that pictures Ron Pierce; I had the pleasure of meeting with him back in 2001. Though sadly he too has passed away. If thats the same man I belive he completed his tour and went to become an instructor.
I do have more information but unfortinatly its all packed away ready for a house move, so unable to access it at the moment!

Kynochs ammunition Manufacturers
I think you will find that the firm Kynoch was a Birmingham firm. As I remember it was situated in Aston, which as you know is an area of Birmingham.
But they were a very important part of the midlands war effort.
As is rightly pointed out it amalgamated with Eley when I seem to remember them still producing shotgun cartridges. Though they probably still produced shells for the M.O.D post WWII.

Wig Bay
What an interesting thread this is, I bet you, if posted there you couldn’t wait for any leave to come up. and as to working in those shelters. No thanks, looks very bleak to say the least.
What started you off
Heres one for some of you older members of the board “I Flew With Braddock” Which was a weekly story in one of the comics it was the Rover or the Adventurer. Though I think they combined to one comic after a time.
And as I had a Grandparant that lived near to Notholt, well my fate was sealed.
The early years at Hendon
When Hendon fist opened as a musum I took two of my boys up there. They were thrilled as was I; at the few Aeroplanes that were on show. I do have that little booklet somewhere about , but finding it is another task!
Moths At Halton
Looks great,,,,,, just wish I could have been there.
Some two names
Stanford Tuck. I think as he probably would have gone on to score a lot more kills.
The evening air show
Thanks for posting these pictures up as they are great. Lysander is the winner for me.
