This is all political posturing. There were no *cuts*, all that happened is that there wasn’t an increase in spending.. so how did they manage to attend all these airshows before?
The same govt that is doing all this bogus *cutting* BS is the same one that has added 2300 new jobs since the *cuts* took place..
What percentage of them have used the gun or is it more of a placebo?.
*Used* in what context? when one of us suggests about going to the shooting range for a day, most of the local crowd will show up.. which used to include my kid:

One problem with requiring people to own a gun: It’s unconstitutional for the exact same reason that this Obamacare fiasco is.

So is it 30% of the people who own a gun or 90%?
Among my friends & acquaintances (that runs into the hundreds), I can only think or 2 or 3 that don’t own a gun.

It wasn’t the snow flurries that were the problem today but the wind chill and although I was well wrapped up, wearing two pair of gloves had little effect and at times I had problems handling my camera.
I’m not convinced that’s actually snow, are you sure a quilt didn’t get sucked into a prop?
If you’re a Tanker & the other side has Apache helicopters, it’s time for a career change…
The Brits didn’t lose any Challenger tanks to enemy fire in the Gulf, how many Abrams did the yanks lose?

Not according to that article (although the National Institute of Justice figure of two million somehow jumps to the headline ‘two-and-a-half million’ figure):
It’s mentioned here:

I should point out that his statements will agree with most of the *anti* view expressed in this thread, but when I clicked on his sources, everyone I checked has been thoroughly discredited… In one case he is still using Kellerman as a source & that was debunked years ago.

By your own suggestion ‘crime is lower in areas of high gun-ownership’ so where are all the ‘unprevented’ murders from the higher-crime areas where less people own guns?
Chicago…. where gun ownership is illegal & has the highest murder rate in the US..
& then we have Kennesaw, Georgia… you may want to look that up…:
Gun law
In 1982 the city passed an ordinance [Sec 34-21][17]
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b)Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
Gun rights activist David Kopel has claimed that there is evidence that this gun law has reduced the incident rate of home burglaries citing that in the first year, home burglaries dropped from 65 before the ordinance, down to 26 in 1983, and to 11 in 1984.[18] Another report observed a noticeable reduction in burglary from 1981, the year before the ordinance was passed, to 1999. A 2001 media report stated that Kennesaw’s crime rates continued to decline and were well below the national average, making citizens feel safer and more secure.[19] Later research claims that there is no evidence that [the law] reduced the rate of home burglaries [in Kennesaw],[20][21] even though the overall crime rate had decreased by more than 50% between 1982 and 2005.[22]
The city’s website[23] claims the city has the lowest crime rate in the county.
