The only firearm I’ve ever craved firing, and finally got the chance to do a couple of years ago, was a Lee Enfield .303. I hit a piece of paper a few times, a bottle of water and so on. It was a fulfilled desire of using an iconic piece of machinery familiar to my grandfather and great grandfather so I enjoyed having the opportunity – but the actual shooting gave less satisfaction than the working of the bolt between rounds. Very tactile.

Found this recently, dated 1952. Now I just have to fill it, but .303 is about the most expensive ammo to buy in the US, short of .50

The original 10 Amendments are rights, not privileges. They are there to guarantee the right forever, and as a right, the government may NOT intercede on them. “Rights” are endowed upon us by our creator, natural law, etc etc, however you want to look at it. They are not something that a governing body gives, and can take away. We here in the states (Well some of us, and even if it is only 5-10%, which when you do the math, is still a large amount of individuals) understand this very basic important fact. It isn’t just about the 2nd, it is about all 10.

The 2nd garantees the other 9 😉

I do find the arguments of the NRA fatuous and wonder if they really represent the majority of US gun-owners? I’d have more time for them if their leadership showed the slightest contrition towards gun-ownership following the recent tragedy or if their leadership had any suggestions other than arming more people, blaming anybody but gun-owners or recommending deeply intrusive regulation of innocent people; all this while rejecting absolutely any further regulation of innocent gun-owners.

No one had a problem with the idea of arming teachers etc when Bill Clinton suggested it when he was President…. which is somewhat inconvenient for the liberals who are expressing outrage that it had now been echoed by the NRA…

Is the regulator on his rivet gun broken, or was he using a 14lb hammer to drive the rivets? 😮

Fortunately, it ended the way it did. Whether America considers tighter gun control or leaves things as they are now is, as others have said, for America to decide. I’m just personally glad for all concerned that the situation ended as well as it did.

It ended better than the case in NY a few weeks back where some guy shot his boss. He didn’t shoot at anyone else, just had a score to settle…

Then New Yorks finest showed up, promptly shot him… & 10 other people…
