My dad was on the Bulwark way back, somewhere there are some pics he took of a Gannet going over the side…. not sure of the date tho, I think they were on the way to Suez.

But are they going to change the name of Douglas Bader’s dog? :p

Yes, they’re going to name it Tin-Tin after his legs 🙂

From what I have been told by people who have had many first hand encounters with him, I don’t think a “cheap shot” from Yeager towards another pilot is a rare thing ….. sadly.

Indeed, I wouldn’t put stock in ANYTHING that guy says.

As for the XB70: you can still find parts of it out in the desert North of here & my kid attends Joe walker School.

& this thing is parked outside my bank next to Lockheeds main gate:

Those brackets you see under the car were *welded* to the axle housing. At least 4 different welds completely failed.

I think Jon Petersen thinks Kuwait is like the Mojave desert which of course anybody who has lived there all year round would know otherwise.

I like living in the Mojave, while we do have dust storms, & dust devils (looks like a small tornado of sand), rain is somewhat absent, 10in a year where I am & that usually falls in 3 or 4 days spread over Winter. 15 miles away closer to the mountains they have flash floods when it rains.
The phrase “drier than a popcorn fart” describes this area quite well. I have some old Kawasaki (bike, not aircraft) steel engine mount plates sat on a shelf in my garage that I beadblasted at least 14 years ago, they look like I did them yesterday.

Might be something to do with that moratorium the US has/had on importing military aircraft previously exported.

What’s with all the yellow vests? Are film personnel known for walking into props?

Paul – The ‘third person’ looks set to go into the annals of FlyPast conspiracy theories -with a lack of hard facts I am going to speculate that the person was on the ground either watching or engaged in some other business when they were bumped by a Tiger Moth !

Tank bank = the grassy knoll 😉

Martin B-26 Marauder “Flak Bait” at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC, USA, flew 202 (some sources say 207) bombing missions over Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France.

Was just going to mention that one….
