I was at that event. As the Unlimited’s dove down towards the first pylon, VooDoo climbed steeply. The announcer noted it and said that when aircraft are in trouble they climb high to get out of the pattern and are better suited to select a landing site. It was not known that the pilot (forget his name….Skip Holm???)…

I think the key to this is that car manufacturers still group components during manufacture today, and that this is not the same as selective fitting, the various components are matched so that the combination of tolerances still add up to a total that is acceptable for that particular assembly.

GM stopped doing this a few years back & as a result some GM engines sound like a bucket of bolts being thrown down a cast iron stair & others sound *ok*. The quality is pretty bloody dire overall.

Might have been using his own reloads & effed one up. I had some Pakistani surplus .303 Enfield stuff that is notorious for that trick tho. I think the record was a little over 15 seconds between the *click* & the *bang*.
In the video you hear the click, then he cycles the action again…. then another click..& then he decides to look in the hole… With the video running it wouldn’t have been much of a problem for the coroner to sort out if he’d been leaning just a bit further forward..

Given that in the grand scheme of things, 30M is ****** all. maybe they should give it to the RNLI.

Certainly the UK and USA used different drawing standards, one was third angle projection and the other first angle but since it’s 40 years since I did a technical drawing I can’t even remember which is which let alone who used what.

First angle in Europe, Third angle in the US. Another bloody inconvenience caused by the colonials that I discovered when I came to the US. Some are merely a PITA, other are downright dangerous, the silly sods put the front brake lever on the LEFT side of bicycle handlebars…

.. & all the light switches are upside down 🙁
