Friday:
Southwest Corner, Day 1. With only 30% of the suspected burial pit harvested, we decided to do a partial survey. Our findings were encouraging to say the least. Indications of large buried objects and the presence of a great deal of metal reinforce eyewitness accounts of burials in this area. We await the completed harvest in order to finish and grid our site. Then we will start to dig.

Today:
THE PLAN: Now that the corn is harvested, and we have confirmation of metal returns and large radar targets underground, we will proceed to radar-map the 3-4 acre Southwest Corner site. This will show us the location and concentration of the buried items and allow us to plan our excavation approach. We anticipate the radar-mapping to be complete by mid-next week. DG

LOL! Pretty sure Howard Keck’s (2x A26 owner) vintage tug is a David Brown. Might have a pic someplace, it’s absolutely cherry 🙂

or pay homage to David Brown tugs.. paint it BRG & add some Aston badges..

It strikes me that CWH once took delivery of two or three V12s that were referred to as “Continental tank engines”…for potential small component spares use for the then-partway-finished Lancaster project, I think. Might they have been Continental-built variants of the Merlin’s AFV-engine cousin the Meteor?

Nope, they’re HUGE aircooled behemoths. Leno has one in a car, they took off the carbs, converted it to F.I. & hung a pair of turbos on it….

I really don’t understand why the BA collection was disposed of so very quickly, there should have been more notice given so that more preservation efforts could have been considered.

The end result would have been the same. Everyone would have sat on their collective ass until the last possible moment without doing a damn thing, even if they had 5 years to come up with a plan.

Sounds OK, except the pictures clearly show an elevator trim tab detaching, not an aileron

The guy who posted it is a modeller.. probably doesn’t know his ass from this aileron 😉
