My dad is the same way: 4.5 & 6in naval guns, Seacat & Seaslug missile systems, in charge of West Battery of Whale island etc… Asked if he wanted to go shooting while he was in the US & his reaction was “meh”

In the case of the Skyraider/Mustang -I don’t believe for one minute that safety procedures had any hand in the outcome! The Skyraider could just as easily have knocked the rear fuselage off the Mustang and put it in a vertical dive and similarily have the Skyraider loose control. Luckily due to a parachute and the fact that the pilot was able to gain control of the Skyraider we didnt have fatalities -however no kind of procedures could regulate for that event.

You mean a safety procedure like “look where the hell you are going”? I think that might have had a hand in the outcome….

The thread I linked to earlier on Wix about the the amount of accidents is getting a bit heated… & a quite few display pilots & ground crew are posting….

They don’t even have the intellect to think at the level they are educated to. The place is being run by thick headed, over educated, idiots.

I think part of the problem, a BIG part of it.. is that we have people in positions of power who are educated beyond their level of intelligence & they haven’t got the first bloody clue how to run things.

Those are called bucks, still used when fabricating car & aircraft panels from scratch to ensure they are the right shape & will fit etc.

And I’ll be surprised if the FAA (or someone) doesn’t put an end to the plane to helicopter stunt.

You’re assuming someone else is going to step forward & say “ok, I think I can do this”. I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Fox news showed the guy fall from the biplane EIGHT times while they talked about the incident…
Thought I was going to see a crash at an airshow on Sunday when someone did a passable impression of a hammerhead stall in a Bearcat… I’m not sure if it was intended or not. There was a brief period when it looked like it was about to become a flat spin leading to a collective “oh sh*t” moment by a couple of the other performers…
There was also a groundloop by another warbird resulting in a tweaked wing tip. I was stood by it when a pair of FAA blokes showed up & one was commenting to the other that “this wasn’t reported”…
