Personally, I don’t think we need more guns in this country, especially when people of my age are already walking around streets with a gun or knife if their possession with in the intention of murder …

Yeah, god forbid you have the means to defend yourself..

Bad day all round, there were also 2 in the US at airshows. The KC Airshow crash video is brutal.

For every murder in the UK where a gun is the murder weapon there are 190 such murders in the US.

What are the relative figures where knives are the weapon of choice?

I agree that drunkenness probably isn’t a problem on the firing-range but what about the (I’m guessing) vast-majority of US gun-owners that don’t go to firing-ranges? What about drunkenness or drug-abuse at home plus guns; surely there is some problems with that?

Look up “idiots with guns” in YouTube…. countless examples & I have to say, some of them are truly hilarious:

You don’t see a problem with gun-ownership because you are a responsible gun-owner but I think what many people do not understand is that many gun-owners do not acknowledge that some gun-owners are a problem and shouldn’t have guns..

Same with anything where idiots are involved: guns, pitbulls, motorcycles, women, explosives, power tools, keeping snakes, large bodies of water etc…. 😉

If a firearm owner shot someone and claimed self defense, he would have to prove that his or someone else’s life was in immediate danger and there was no other way of preventing death or serious injury to the victim.

Same in the US. If you claim to have shot some perp merely to wound him then you are going to the Big House as it’s said that if you aim to wound then you weren’t “in fear of your life”… so you always shoot to kill. Has the added benefit of not leaving a witness to say otherwise….;)

I believe that if a person is prepared to violate the human rights of another person, he immediately gives up his own.

That’s how I see it also. If you steal from me, you give up the right to own ANYTHING etc 😎

I don’t recall suggesting that you might shoot yourself, or that you might shoot anyone else,

    Regards,

    kev35

That was directed at Tornado’s insane assertion that merely owning a gun means I’m likely to shoot myself etc.. It’s akin to claiming that because you own a car you will drive drunk & mow down a gang on nuns. But like I said, it was Kellerman who originally came up with that claim & he has zero credibility when it comes to actual reality.

In all seriousness though, how do you explain that, per capita, the general murder rate in the US is 22 times that of the UK and the rate of murder by shooting is 190 times that of the UK? Person per person that is one hell of a huge difference.
    Regards,

    kev35

Take the a*hle gang bangers & drug dealers etc out of that figure & the number drops quite a bit. I have no problem with idiots like that preventing each other from breeding.

I think there would be an absolute bloodbath for about a month, until the chavs realized that things were different… & then people would be MUCH more polite.
