Picked up another Morgan today. Made in Chicago so that dates it between ’29 & ’47. Similar to the one above with the swivel base, but with 3 1/2 in jaws.
$25! Sold to the bloke with the funny accent!
& owing to some other damn fool throwing down the gauntlet on another forum….. one of the sledgehammers got a quick polish..

mine were told that they obviously didn’t love their mother as they said they had a nice day out with me….
In US divorce cases parents are told not to bad mouth the other parent in front of, or to, the kids….. as you can see, my ex had a slight problem with that. She’s been told that if she doesn’t take the mental health help she has been offered, she won’t see the kid again until the kid is 18.. Court on Tuesday…

I see two possibilities…
1, You’re lacking in the trouser dept.
2, She’s a slag.

The “faces” on the two jets that are talking make them look like F18’s with Skywarrior cockpits 🙂
I wondered whether any of you have any tips on how to determine what particular mark of Spitfire or Seafire one is looking at. There are so many different variations I get muddled.
I can think of the following recognition points, but maybe the cognoscenti can suggest others.
1. Number of prop blades.
2. Cockpit: Malcolm hood or bubble
3. Armament: 20 mm cannon or machine guns.
4. Wing tips: clipped or not
5. Number of engine exhaust coversI thought of building my own spreadsheet or flowchart, but wondered if this sort of thing in print or on the internet somewhere.
Bob
6, Rad scoops
7, Upper engine cowl bulges
8, Rudder shape
Whats the point of a fire service then if it cannot deal with a soft field.
Soft wet fields aren’t in any great danger of going up in flames… Reminds me of the local fire service here who failed to respond to a report of a “snowman on fire” a few years back.
ZRX Hi, havn’t heard from you in a while. My wife says I am a useless old tool, you can have me for nowt. BTW the piston rings were a perfect fit.
Jim.
Lincoln .7
I dropped by the engine shop a couple of weeks ago & they are scraping piles of parts to get the silver out of them… Kinda stange seeing 40lb lumps of silver sitting there..

I managed to get this picture of him in front of a much later Avro machine before he left.
Not *that* much later in the general scheme of things, only 11 years seperate the Lanc from the Vulcan: Jan 8th ’41 to Aug 30th ’52 😉
Lovely work. Can you actually still buy proper vices like these in this day and age?
These days most of them come from a land far away to the East….but old US & Euro vises are plentiful. Morgan is still in business, that non-swivel 40 I have is still listed at $385.00 new. I paid $40 for mine, mine is date stamped 1986 🙂
