I hope they re-plumb the fuel system…otherwise it might turn into a glider at an inopportune moment….

As I recall, on WIX ages ago the TIGHAR Welsh rep came onto that forum and said he would come back with all the answers to everyones questions about the project. He then went quiet, and as far as I know didn’t surface again.

He’s saving up to buy a bucket & spade to build a ring of defensive sandcastles around the P38 wreck πŸ˜‰

I won’t make any further comments on the merits or otherwise of TIGHAR’s activities, although I do think their methods obviously don’t sit well with how most group’s on this side of the pond operate, I think its up to everyone to make up their own minds.

It’s the same on this side of the pond. They just got hammered on Wix again.

There’s a lot to admire about Tighar, I say as admittedly a former member and a friend of Ric Gillespie and his wife Pat Thrasher, and nothing to admire about the mean-spirited little people who sit on their broad buttocks, comfy at home, and criticize the enormous efforts of a group of volunteers who have done a huge amount of work trying to solve the Earhart mystery.
True, they haven’t solved it yet, after years of work and numerous expeditions, but if it were easy, those Monday-morning quarterbacks so quick to criticize would have solved it themselves.

oh please, they are the biggest bunch of BS artists on the planet. Their only accomplishment so far is to have gullible people pay for them to swan about the Pacific getting nice tans.

In all the years that The International Group for Aircraft Recovery have been raising money from people, how many aircraft have they actually recovered?

    Here’s the entire list:

Can’t comment on the truth of the matter – but where the Yanks are concerned it would never surprise me….they are and always have been fanatical about protecting their own industries…..something that in many circumstances we would have done well to emulate.

Maybe 40 years ago, now they’ve exported it all to China & India etc..

Many would disagree, as there were non-Catholic forms of Christianity throughout the entire span of time from a certain carpenter’s ministry to current.

At least in the UK it’s fairly simple, whereas in the US it’s ridiculous. I live in a town of about 140,000 & we have over 70 different christian varieties…

Actually, he’s done a sterling job in preserving some of our airfield heritage.

A lot of his Turkey sheds are built on runways of WW2 airfields. The runways and a fair bit of infrastructure are quite intact.

There is a rather unusual aircraft response delay when implementing any aileron input in the DC-3…
