Twitter says they’ve raised 60K so far of the 400K they need in 3 weeks time…. at this rate they won’t even come close…

I have to ask:
Over the years there have been countless pics of blokes with cans of paint & brushes… Why didn’t someone suggest spraying the paint on the structure?

In the US we spray homes, for new builds 2 blokes can do a house inside & out in a day

Having had a look on the vintage radials site again (where the video from July comes from) it looks like it is the same motor as is on Paul Allens machine as shown on the Vintage V12’s site, so I suppose vintage V12’s and Vintage radials are one and the same.

Edit as their addresses are both Tehachapi I suppose this is correct!

Mike bought out Aircraft Cylinder & Turbine in Sun Valley & moved everything up the hill to Tehachapi:
35° 7’46.60″N 118°24’56.56″W
There has been new construction since that pic was taken & there is 1 more buildings on the West side of the lot, at the south end. There is still space for another between the two.
It’s home to Vintage V12’s, Vintage Radials & Vintage Carbs 🙂

As I understand it, the shift is on, more fighting is being done by drones than manned aeroplanes.

A rethorical question, “In general terms,how long can a drone stay aloft compared to a manned aeroplane?”

Another rethorical question “Which is the most cost effective?”

They are the typical drivers that are powering the shift and that puts the focus back to my original point, the people at home are directly involved in the killings and that drives yet another set of ponderables.

However, your wild claim of 40,000 drones in the Afghan/Pakistan area amounts to one drone for every 2 troops on the ground which is frankly ridiculous.

Interesting development today.
Saw 2 Athols on Craigslist yesterday. One was already sold (same as my other one) but managed to snag the other one. As it was 60 miles away a friend picked it up on his way over here this morning. It appears to have been “aluminized” the same way radial engine cylinders are sprayed when new.

From the picure in the ad it looked like either silver paint or bare metal:

Tried to get hold of the seller again to find out any history, his home isn’t too far from the former Aircraft Cylinder & Turbine shop in Sun Valley… Hmm….

Yup, I watch the rocket launches from Vandenburg AFB & that’s 2 counties over from here, over 100 miles away from my front yard… altrho if you want to hear/feel them you have to be somewhat closer…

Union membership was was a ‘requirment’ or else it seems, certainly this was the still the case when I finished my apprenticeship circa 1975. Anyone know if this still applied to the vast numbers of ‘new’ aircraft industry workers during WW2?

I found an old WWII newsparer & in the “vacancies” section they list different wages for:
Local Males
Out of town males
Females
Coloureds…

The days of 40 pattern BD tops for £3 at the corner army surplus store are long gone. There must be 4 or 5 different suppliers offering new battledress to re-enactors now, and prices start at £95 for a BD Blouse – tailored of course to the fuller, taller figure……………

Ben Gunn’s in Pompey… long gone now, but in the ’70’s every kid at my school used WWII gasmask bags & backpacks for carrying stuff to school. He must have sold thousands of them…
