No problem whatsoever using different fabrics on old or new aircraft, provided they meet the original design requirements. For example, Ceconite 102 on a P-51 just wont do it but 101 will do & is already approved.

If you’re going to change the original fabric type get the TC holder (if still available) to raise a SB, or otherwise raise a modification and get it approved BEFORE doing the job, otherwise you wont be flying for a bit while you dig yourself out of the hole you just found yourself in.

One it’s all painted etc just how is the CAA drone going to know the difference?

18 years ago we used linen on a Spit which has been parked behind ropes etc ever since & isn’t capable of flight (the Merlin is *empty*).. But linen was insisted upon for authenticity when Stitz etc would have been fine…I doubt anyone can tell the difference from 30ft away

The source is the ABC (The Australian National Radio/TV/Internet Broadcaster).

The drones included vehicles that detect roadside bombs and defuse them, ones that detect land mines etc – the list grows every month. It is a paradym shift much the same as aircraft were to the navel battleships, machine guns were to calvery charges.

ZRX61 I guess you will need to get yourself a bit more up-to-date. Even my local airfield has a number of UAV’s operating from it (Boeing ScanEagles).

Those ones aren’t dropping bombs on kids or launching missiles at them….The actual number of operational drones dropping bombs or launching missiles is in the dozens.. NOT 40,000..

With the drones in Pakistan, the CIA drivers are waging war (guiding the drones, killing people, destroying things) , but without the risks of being a warrior, they are killing people (civilians mainly – non-combatants, children)

I really don’t care.

In the current times – increasingly most of the destruction is being executed by drones and robots (there are 40,000 in use in the Afghanistan/Pakistan area)

Forty THOUSAND drones & robots? I’d like to see the source for that number. They make the drones just down the road from here & the number is barely in the hundreds… :rolleyes:

So they’re spending close to 6K a week on *fundraising*.. & 750K a year on wages….

6K a week for what amounts to monthly emails begging for money seems a bit extreem..?

I’d like to see the wages broken down a bit more. Specifically what the mechanics, crew chief etc are each being paid… & how much Pleming is getting these days..
