That’s nothing compared to what I saw at the Air Force Museum in Palam, India. Just as I arrived in the parking lot a dump truck pulled up… the sort you’d see on a major construction site. It was filled to the brim with children on a school trip with their teachers no less!!!

NO it isn’t. It is *airworthy*.. but it ain’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

it used to be The Flowerpot pub in the 50’s / 60’s.

I’m looking at the plans of the house.. I see a door into the kitchen.. obviously the backdoor.. abother into the *sitting room* from around the back of the house….but it appears to be lacking a front door… specifically, one the allows one to enter the structure via the *hallway”???

Price is a bit steep, but it sure has a LOT of potential…

edit2, ok I see the front door, but apparently whoever did the plans didn’t….

Heads off to buy lottery ticket.. $28M tonight…

It’s working, a Vulcan is still flying!

It’s NOT working, it’s effectively grounded right now. They need to AVERAGE about 12K a day between now & the end of October. How much did they raise today?

Then again a wealthy ex-pat Brit could buy it and keep it in the UK and be adored by one and all.
Showing up at Duxford and saying…”Yeah, I did that…” should be enough to get a guy a date with one of the Spice Girls, Heather Mills, or a minor royal. 😀

However… if I did actually win the lottery & **** away a small fortune on buying it & moving it here… corrosion would cease to be an issue..

& there’s 300,000 Brits in California so a lot of us would still get to see it 🙂

I find his continual threats that it is about to be sold to an unnamed American insulting.
He wants a patriotic Englishmen to think the American (probably Donald Trump) is waiting to buy the Vulcan and ship it off to the colonies where it would undoubtedly be painted up as an ad for McDonalds (the horror!) or worse, an American beer.:eek::eek::eek:

Might be an ex-pat Brit who buys it & ships it off to the Colonies…

…dependant on tonights lottery draw of course 😀 Pretty sure there’s enough experience at Plant 42 & Edwards to keep it airworthy..;)

Don’t know how old you are now – but I guess it has changed more than a little…pretty much one continuous built-up area from Pompey to Southampton!

50, I lived on Rothesay Rd when I was about 2, moved to Essex & then back to Rowner Estate where I went to the local infants school for about a year. (Dad was a RN CPO ERA/Gunnery Instructor on Destroyers: HMS London & HMS Hampshire, also Troubridge & Bulwark, shore based at Whale Island when not afloat…) Then Pompey for a while, left, moved back for awhile in the mid 70’s.
Last time I visted was a week before I emigrated 20 years ago. Mother & stepdad live in Waterlooville, sis is a Obersturmfuhrer with the Inland Revenue in Cosham.

I don’t have an OA rig, but my neighbour has a few, I once counted 27 gas bottles in his garage. So I can borrow his when needed. He also has a mill if I need to use one, & if he needs to use a lathe, I have 3.. so it’s all works out quite well.
*Garages* in the US are a bit different to those damp places big enough for one car that people tolerate in the UK 🙂

My neighbour also has a “Lockheed Way” roadsign in his front yard that I’d like to bolt to my garage…

Did Sunderland flying boats have a vice mounted inside somewhere?
Seem to remember seeing a picture of one.
That would be an interesting one to collect.

I think I’ve seen a pic someplace… I’m off to the beach for the day, someone will probably post one before I get back..
