Good candidate for an electrolysis bath, ya have a battery charger? 😎
I couldn’t care less about provenance, it’s a Spitfire in the air, looks good and it sounds dam good. As long as it’s original construction and a Merlin/Griffon engine.
I concur. It’s getting like Shelby & his “continuation” Cobras, who cares if it’s a clone (apart from CS, obviously)?
Nor sure why you would want to resurrect these IMHO not too funny descriptions,

I was trying to weed out the SOH donors 😉 😀
Unfortunately, Vulcan XH558 will now be grounded forever unless further funding of £1million is identified by early 2009. This funding will allow the project to pay its monthly expenses, clear debt and provide a stable financial footing for the future.
Still waiting for that con artist Plemming makes the accounts public…Given that he admits his wages is 120K a year.. which makes up 20% of the overall costs (he said 50K/month) I think he should either work for free or resign if he’s REALLY serious about getting money for the Vulcan.
The guy comes across like Arthur Daley..
About an hour after the F4: I, & about 200,000 of my neighbours were treated to a B1 doing multiple circuits & bumps with the burners lit for about 45 minutes…..
NASA has one they operate out of Plant 42/Palmdale
Its alright for some. Last time I saw a Phantom (German, probably going to Leeming) I was jumping round like a mad man.
I guess its still quite normal there. (US ?)
Plant 42, Some sort of MD servicing plant ?
Home of Lockheed Skunk Works, the former B1, B2 & Space shuttle plants & all sorts of other stuff..
F4’s are quite rare here, altho BAE has a place at Mojave to convert them to drones. The drones have bright orange bits on them, this one looked black
F4 Phantom headed North out of Plant 42 just a few minutes ago. VERY dark paint.
Bloody great double bang this afternoon & looking skyward was rewarded with the space shuttle Endeavor doing the “slow the hell down” tango on it’s way into Edwards AFB, Watched it for quite a while zipping back & forth while it plummeted (for want of a better word) earthwards. I was at Willow Springs for a track day.
No pics of the event, so heres a pic of my daughter & a friends son instead:
They also saw the shuttle. S&W 916 on the left, Mossberg 590 on the right 🙂
Willow Springs Raceway is on Rosamond Blvd, which also happens to be the main road into the base if you go East from the off ramp instead of West towards the track.
Several museums use them to as a gravitational aid to hold aircraft to the ground.. 😉
Mustang wheels aren’t split rim, thats why just about all Mustangs have P63 wheels.. which are split rim.
Those could be Stearman?
edit, not stearman..
Well, I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you….!

Tell my ex wife … 😉
The US one was at VNY a few years back, they pit a bigger engine in it & it had a “camo pattern” paint job in white & Ferrari red.. I think lower part of it was lilac…
I think the bright paint was to stop people tripping over it in the dark…
& yes, some blithering muppet did ****** up the paint on the nose by mis-using a buffer to remove overspray & create a wad of holograms in the finish, haven’t had a chance to remedy that yet
beautiful aircraft, there is something very sexual about the tigercat in my opinion, its a shame the TFC one isnt still here, thanks for the link, ive jut cleared up the drool 😉
Believe me, it still has that *Duxford T2* smell to it. We’ve almost managed to get it oil tight, barely a drip escapes it now. 3Bond 1104 is the secret 😉
So far this year it’s had:
New paint
Oil shut-off valves
Linked valve covers for the scavange system
Pre-oil & scavage system pumps
O2 system
Autopilot
Fire sensor/suppression system
New brakes/tires
Rerouted blower drains so the pilot can see when 100LL is pissing out & prevent this:
Dummy cannons in the wings
.50cal shrouds in the snout
I’m sure theres more that I’m forgetting..
