I’m 99.9% sure I just saw an F104 go blasting out of AF Plant42. No idea who the hell it was or where it came from.

on his “explore” of Rougham hall he “Went through the woods to aviod going past the grounds keepers cottage”.

I don’t blame him one bit. I used to live in Rougham & the groundskeeper is a thoroughly unpleasent sort, even on the odd occassion he’s sober. I had at least 3 bouts of fisticuffs with the bloke in one of the local pubs.

What’s the interior like? I’ve heard it looks nothing like a stock mustang. Leather interior and the works.

The former Montana Miss? A complete PITA to work on.:( For starters they clearcoated the paint so everytime ya remove or open a hatch etc it cracks & peels off. Then the previous owner was in the construction business so the Merlin is painted JCB orange.
Put extra tanks in the gun bays & it took damn near THREE DAYS to remove all the extraneous crap from the cockpit so I could get the floorboards up & swap out the fittings on the fuel guages(& refit it all), this is normally a 20-30 minute job. Every bloody panel has foam backed leather on it & have been made larger to reduce gaps. Half the screws had stripped heads & the only that weren’t stripped were only like that because they were completely inaccessible…Thats why everything had to come out to get the floorboards up….

    …actually thats a slight exageration, I didn’t remove the rudder……;)

Well IIRC there was also a few comments on those lines on a thread on pprune as well, from those that have served/worked with him as well, so who knows…………

In his biography he quite plainly states his low opinion of the Brits, maybe they edited out that bit in UK editions:confused:

Maybe I can clear this up in a couple of days.
Pete Regina at Van Nuys does the Annuals on Toms P51. He is also Steven Craigs *go to guy* when it comes to warbirds. I’ve worked with Pete on Toms P51 & Stevens Staggerwing & Wildcat…
Just called & left a msg on Petes answering machine at the hangar… stay tuned…

    Comedy moment:
First worked on Toms P51 when he had just bought it. Pete flew it over the VanNuys from SM & a few days later when it was returned to Toms hangar it had a “MAVERICK” decal on the canopy rail…. dunno how that got there..;)
It was removed at Toms hangar by the guy who looks after his jets…

Oddly enough, the same thing happened the following 2 or 3 times it came over to Van Nuys….

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing the progress! Are you going to paint the cargo/trunk interior green as well?

Probably going with a black interior & will get some spray in bedliner for the back.. but not sure yet what colour… If I use Zolatone it’s tintable 🙂

& there’s a very good chance of it ending up with “No Guts No Glory” on the drivers door….& the star & bar over the stripes..

😮 Don’t punish all the others and the hard work by withholding money and help because of 1 poster saying things you don’t agree with.
This is supposed to be an aviation supporting forum rather than a slagging off each other.
    Come on everyone:confused:

& MY post gets edited for personal attacks where the post that basically said all other restorers are a bunch of thickos goes untouched?
    ******** to it.
Lets see what Vulcan558 has to say for himself when he sobers up….

why if they are so good have they not got lottery support for their projects or have aircraft flying . simple they are not as clever as they make out.

So you think other restorers are a bunch of thicko’s because they didn’t get the Govt to give them 5.3 million?
Congratulations. The Vulcan will NEVER see another cent from me after the complete ******** posted *EDIT*
