That’s rich coming from a poster who is masquerading as a RAF serial!:D
eh? Does this help…. note # on bottom of plate frame… 🙂
The poster “King” hit the nail on the head with his comment about how proud Connie is of his stuff.. & getting prouder by the day. I’ve lost count of the amount of people who have told me they walked away from dealing with him over stupid prices.;)
Pity about the Argo’s 😡 , I think only one almost complete job left! 🙁
Argosy? There’s one here in SoCal… sat out at Fox Field looking like crap. At least I think thats what it is….. some obscure Brit thing that looks like a wheelbarrow..?
It’s only about 5 miles from here & my parents arrive from the UK on the 14th Feb so we’re gonna go to the ceremony deal at 2.30 on the 16th. Step-dad is ex RN (HMS Protector, HMS Eagle & others). Mother lost her brother on HMS Penelope at Anzio (Feb 18th ’44) & an uncle the next day on the beachhead.
Gonna call on a couple of other local ex-pats & show the flag as it were…
U2 northbound out of Plant 42 this morning & an F117 almost took my roof off a bit later when returning from “the boonies”. The ******s buzz vehicles if they see ya North of Edwards & there’s not much traffic about. Almost got knocked off my bike a few years back out that way by a B2. They sneek up on ya & come out of the sun so ya just have time to register the shadow passing over & then all hell breaks loose… 🙁
& a rarity:
Some bloke from BAE out at Mojave was test hopping a drone F4 Phantom & decided to beat up Plant 42 a couple of weeks back. He passed over the road at the end of the runway at “Mark Hannah height” I ended up driving thru the cloud of black smoke….:D
I have a mainwheel from PA980 someplace in the garage…
& my mantle has a Merlin rod & a bunch of Merlin/R2800/R3350 valves gathering dust 🙂
I *did* have quite a pile of Spit/P51/A26 stuff that was on loan to a local museum/bar… but it changed ownership & the new block sold a bunch of it on Ebay.. even tho he knew it was on loan…
One day I’ll bump into the guy & it will be messy…:dev2:
Thanks for the replies chaps, there is no corrosion that I am aware of…
The items in question are seat frames, so it shouldn’t matter about the shells getting in any crevices.
Regards, Alan
With something small like that a quick blast with an air nozzle should remove all of it… (walnut).
If the parts are fairly stout a fine glass bead leaves a nice finish.
And does Kermit fly any of his ‘big stuff’? B-26, B-24, even the previously-airworthy B-25?
It doesn’t mean that it definitely won’t fly again, but his present track record suggests that he likes to keep a handful of the single-engined types airworthy at any particular time, and that’s about it. And, along with a few slow-time rebuilds, that’s what his engineering set-up is geared to support, certainly not the restoration and operation of ‘heavies’.
I think the main problem Kermit faces with his collection is the location. After the last hurricane went thru there & mangled a bunch of aircraft he was quoted as saying his team will take betweent 9-15 years to get back to where they were.
Not the smartest place to site anything by any stretch, let alone a collection of aircraft….at least the USAF has the ability to fly most of their stuff out before the storms hit…
He reminds me of another (small time, by stinking rich) aircraft owner who inherited a pile, if he’d had to work for a living he’d starve.. 🙂
You could try the Ardrox 2814 mentioned in the above post – that shouldnt do the damage that Nitromors would. Otherwise, I would heartily recommend soda blasting. This will take the paint off down to the base metal, and leave no damage at all. It isnt so good for removing corrosion, but you can use glass bead or walnut shell for that if you need to.
Bruce
TFC’s B25 has been walnut blasted at some point in the past, every time they ran it some more would come out of the seams etc.
Walnut won’t remove corrosion tho… great for (some) paint tho
& there is an issue with soda counteracting etch primer unless the metal surface is thoroughly wiped down after blasting. 🙂
Another item thats useful for this is aerosol Dye Penetrant. That stuff will work it’s way in anywhere (otherwise it would just be *dye*, lol) & will loosen threads etc.
Silkroil & Aerokroil are both made by Kano Labs. 🙂
Kano are here:

AeroKroil by Kano Laboratories is the dogs danglies.. 🙂
& for the bio crowd at rust removal: Rusteco
WD40 is absolute junk after usinmg AeroKroil
involved peripherally with the warbird rebuilders and pilots at Van Nuys airport in California until I left for Saudi Arabia in 1997
We must know each other…. I worked with PR 🙂
Rick.
Middle East. I think it all boils down to our support for Israel…..
Maybe a good idea for “world peace” to hang Israel out to dry for a few months & see where it leads…

I knew one in Cambridge who was very into Dx & had the kind of body that would make the Pope kick a nun..;)
Just remembered her name, she was known as Mouse… & I think someone from Area 51 may have been tapping it.. 😎
