Won’t there be a pile of Bristol Centaurus engines in the States that have been removed from Sea Fury racers,

Mike Nixon has been known to dabble a bit with Centaurii…. & altho I can’t quite see his shop from where I’m sat, I can see the mountain on top of which it resides 🙂

    ZRX61,

XM655 will never fly again, despite being in excellent condition and the youngest Vulcan surviving, the cost of restoration to airworthy condition would be

I did invest $10 today for Wednesday’s $75m lottery jackpot, I’ll let ya know how it goes… altho given my location, I’d probably make a play for the one sat at March AFB… 🙂

Bloke on one of the bike boards I frequent is into r/c submarines… He lost one in a lake a few weeks back when it “disappeared” into the depths. So he finds a local Army scuba club to go look for it.
He gets a shout from one of the divers saying “We found it!”
& another promptly surfaces along with a 13ft Russian Akula class sub…

er, nope, wrong r/c sub.. LOL!!

Is there anything that “physically” stops it flying, or is it just paperwork & money etc?

Hang on, what have I missed here, when were the VC-10’s overflying my favourite city and why.

It was practice for some bloody great flypast deal in London. The 3 VC10’s came over on 2 different days & then there was a another flypast practice with the VC10’s, some Canberras & C130’s (I think that was the line up).
On the day of the big show in London some Tornado’s buzzed the town center on the way home, 4 of em in a diamond IIRC.
It may have been ’90 or ’91….?

I used to live just around the corner from the pool, never went in there tho.

Last time I was there (Mid 80’s) we were driving past a hangar when I mentioned seeing a couple of Lightnings in one of em. I was told “You didn’t see them, they aren’t here” LOL!

After the first *retirement* a load of parts ended up in SoCal salvage yards. I remember seeing rudders in the local paper advertised for $500.
