For God’s sake enough!
Do you lot not realise that by promoting a thread of such idle speculation you will have wound the numpties up to such a pitch of excitement that they will now be readily identifiable from the silly walk, the piched expression and the wearing of growbags and hi-vis jackets on the crowd side of the fence.
They’re all gonna be at Southampton jotting down Container serial #’s 😉
Should the container be made airworthy by Legends, what kind of Horsepower do you need to get a 40ft steel container airborne from Duxford’s runway?
Steve
Couple of Avon’s should be sufficient…
Talking of Robs, check this out:

Of course, you don’t even get to hear the Boom anymore… 🙁
Some days I get to hear 3 or 4 🙂 The ones that REALLY get my attention are when the Shuttle lands at Edwards. Those ones rattle all the plates in the kitchen cupboards & make stuff in the house move. I’ve even had sash windows slam shut a couple of times 😀
Who overhauled the engines this time?
moggers?
the feeble attempts at humour.
******, I missed that, now I’m going to have to read it all again.. 🙁
out paraffin-burning tube-type stuff!
The correct term is “Diesel fans” :diablo:
I loaned out some stuff to a local bar/roadhouse/museum near Edwards AFB. the placve went thru 3 or 4 changes in ownership in rapid fashion & 90% of the stuff was sold off by some lowlife scum on Ebay before I found ouit what was going on. I did manage to retrive my R2800 carb last time I was there & intend to remove part of PA908 from the ceiling & part of Stilletto (Reno racer, now TF51) from the ****house wall. I’m hoping my BRAND NEW R2800 cylinder is still there….
I lived there in the early 80’s & found it behind the barn. I once asked John if he wanted me to drag it off to Duxford but got nowhere with that idea when he wanted to know how much I was going to pay him for it… He did tell me it was some German aircraft that crashed in the area. No idea where the crash site is tho. John probably has all the info. Is he still living in that bus?
The last time I saw it (about ’85), it was laying behind the barn/workshop by the beet pad. IIRC the tire was French Dunlop & the undercart was kinda emerald green.
Have you been to the original Aggie family house in the woods? It was hit by a bomb in WWII & there’s a HUGE crater where the back of the house was, the front etc is still standing.
I used to see Pete’s sister around quite a bit, but not since her late husband tried to aviate with the control locks in place. I assume she’s still here in Calif some place.
I think I just saw this plane fly over in San Diego, California today. Can anyone else in this area confirm this?
Possible, I think it pops in & out of Edwards.
whats the difference between the 1101 and the 1002?
99 🙂
Maybe we’ve hit on the reason Nicole walked…
I knew it was one colony or the other…. 😀
ZRX61,
I assume he has a very big cushion on the seat so he can see out? 😉
Extra holes in the seat tubes to raise it higher, couldn’t get FAA approval for the Mothercare booster seat… 😉
He decided to get gun bay gas tanks fitted after he & Matt flew it back from Colorado to Van Nuys & sputtered in on fumes one night. They were going to SM but couldn’t quite make it that extra 20 miles. So now he has a Mustang he can just about fly from LA to Chicago
The plane is VERY shiny as it was clear coated, which means it looks a bit messy wherever a panel has been removed & cracked it… 🙁 I’m guesssing he’l put it up for sale the first time it drags him down the runway sideways…
😀
Insurance is a problem with the Hollywood crowd, Jay Leno almost went up in TFC’s B model until his insurance people put the kybosh on that idea (when it was still red & owned by Joe)
Harrison Ford fly’s out of Santa Paula I believe? I’ve seen him at Van Nuys once or twice.
OK ZRX61 back to you.
When you say ‘Luftwaffe markings’ did you actually see the crosses, or just the style of camouflage?
Moggy
I didn’t see it at all, I’m 6500 miles away, but some bloke on a bike board mentioned seeing a Fw190 doing aero’s over Henley at 2000ft which I thought a bit unlikely.
