There’s also the “clueless idiot” aspect.. the one that springs to mind is Ben Affleck when filming Pearl Harbor. He sat in the PoF P40 playing with all the switches without ANY clue what any of them did & when told to keep his bloody fingers off he told the *plane sitter* that if he didn’t want people playing with the switches then he shouldn’t rent out his aircraft to the movie companies…

He was then *educated* by the plane sitter…. :dev2:

The cowl is A26 or DC something or other, def Douglas… but the engine is too close to the ground to be an A26….. altho they did race one at Reno WAY back…. I think Clay Lacy turned up with a DC6 one year?

Whatever it is it has too many blades for an A26 or DC something….

Does anyone know why? I can’t think of a single reason for going out specifically to write down these numbers. I’m sure you could find out somewhere whether or not aircraft x visited place y on a specific date if it was of any importance anyway.

    OCD…. :diablo:

Kevin Larosa’s P51 is sprouting a Calif ANG paint scheme. I know it had part of the paint done last time I worked on it. His dad flew em so he’s doing it as a tribute to him.

Is that OFC’s T33? I remember Mark getting a bit carried away about polishing it.. took him half a day to do 1sqft & by then he kinda realised how long it would take so gave up 🙂

I also recall him being spoken to about a *near miss* at Dx.. seeing as he was the only aircraft in the circuit at the time I asked what he was supposed to have got a bit too close to…
The reply: “The Piper Tomahawk that was taxing out by the eastern perimeter fence” :diablo: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

So, we are left with the phrase “shoot a landing”. This is an Nav-Air (Naval Air) (maybe others too) term describing the process of simulating a landing, touching the surface without stopping (also called a “touch & go” in the USAF…. silly pampered flyboys).

.. also known as the “Crash & go” or Crash & bounce…. :diablo:

Ah, I expected this sort of negative reaction from a non-enthusiast. In that case, why bother to bring it? 🙁

Yeah, I just build the damn things so people can **** & moan about not being able to see every nook & cranny of em.. I spent the last however many years building warbirds just to spite people…
