Theres a few shekles to be made selling plywood replica’s to anoraks 🙂 I’ve made a couple of P51 panels, but they ended up in aircraft instead of on my mantle 🙁

Does anyone know the specific colour details? The Federal Standard or British Standard number and nomenclature of the “dark grey” paint? In the photos it doesn’t appear to be terribly dark.

There’s a book out there that has all the *standard* Brit colours in it, used it to get the PR Blue for Dayton’s recon Spit many years ago. It had all the RAF colours in there, can’t remember if there was also RN colours, but I do remember it had “Post Office Red”.
Can’t remember the name of the damn book, I think Pete still has it down the hangar I’ll give him a call next week & ask what the title is. It’s not a very big book, maybe 20 pages & about 5x7in

THERE WAS NO ********ING ARGUMENT! ANOTHER VULCAN MIGHT BE ABOUT TO BE SCRAPPED. WHATS THE FLYABLE ONE GOT TO DO WITH IT? DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE HURT WHEN YOU SAY THAT? WHY DID YOU BRING UP 558? DOES IT GIVE YOU SATISFACTION TO THINK PEOPLE ARE SADDENED BY WHAT YOU INSISTENTLY SAY? STOP THIS ******* BULL**** NOW! YOU ARE BORING!

NOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE ONE AT BLACKPOOL? CAN IT AND WILL IS BE SAVED?

i hope some part of it survives, I’m not a fan of jets really, but Vulcans are pretty cool

One did receive an RN tail, but that was because it was U/S on deck and needed to be “hidden” when the Ark made a port visit to a country where the US was less than welcome. More details at home when I get there.

I’ve seen a pic of one that clearly has a roundal in the middle of the star & bar on the side 🙂

So the lottery fund effectively are giving money to a business…..is that in the rules.

Would you rather they handed over 2.7M to a bunch of over-enthusiastic, under-skilled Sunday afternoon anoraks?

F-4’s cross decked on the Ark. However her catapaults were incompatable with the F-14 so I suspect it didnt happen.

And the ones that stayed overnight ended up with UK paint jobs on one side of em…. something about Royal Colonial Navy I think

ok buggerit! here’s my tupenth worth.
When I read about the latest plans to get 558 back in the air the press release plainly stated they have “secured enough funding to START work on bringing it back to airworthiness” or words to that effect…..]
That clearly states they don’t have the money to finish the job….. end of argument.

Pity someone doesn’t get the Vulcan out at March AFB back in the air, they basically parked it & walked away from it… it’s still Crown property…. & hasn’t been subject to UK weather for the past however many years. Climate at March is drier than a popcorn fart.

Was watching that on the news yesterday & when they commented that it narrowly missed a trailer park my first thought was “If it had been a Tornado it would have landed directly in the middle of it”…

I was up on Grumpy’s wing one day when some guy asked if it was an Abermarle (sp?), I told him it was a B25 & he got a bit agitated & started arguing with me about it….

How about funny things ya see at airshows…..
Like the woman in the one piece VERY WHITE pantsuit outfit thing who was stood right behind TFC’s P47 when it was backed up to the fence line & fired up…..

Big crowd under the B52 wing using it as a sunshade when suddenly the bomb bay doors start to open…. people starting to look a bit unsettled.. edging away from the plane and then……

… a bath sponge falls out & blows along the ramp closely followed by some Colonial Air Force guy who was inside cleaning it up….

Are there any pitfalls in me doing this? Has anyone out here had any experiences of loaning stuff to museums?

Yeah & the place in questioned sold a bunch of it on Ebay, including skins from PA908, Merlin valve covers, R2800 cylinders, cams & carbs, fuselage skins from Stilletto etc….
Never got any of it back & the cops did **** about bringing the guy to justice
