Although now I look again, it appears he’s actually parked in a field.
There’s video of the crash, he just spun straight in. There’s also a really confused sounding ATC recording.
Just pulled that area up on Google Earth, they caught what looks like a yellow Cub flying nearby.
SOFIA left tonight for NZ via Hawaii. Think it’s gone for 6-9 weeks.
Saw this today, but not quite this close, saw the rocket trail from a few miles away.

It looked like this from where I was:

Link to report & pic of rocket under power:
Giovanni Marchi was flying it, but his wife (Silvia Sorlini) is the owner? Anyone care to clarify?
Yup, 12 seconds from it going pear shaped to wheels on the grass.
LOL! I know who the bloke in question is.
Was it as Woodchurch or Lashenden? Woodchurch appears to be a grass strip in some blokes back yard.
He’s posted more pics today, there’s engine damage. On the upside, the prop is already back at Sensenich for repair & the main spar appears to be unharmed.
Been a bad weekend all round. Kermits Pup, the P51, fatal Staggerwing crash in NM & a Huey down in Wa State (Minor injuries, fairly major damage)
Failing to take off?? That’s an odd one.
Kermit had a buddy on the grass with a camera when it came apart, he’s posting more pics & video tomorrow.
When they filmed MB at Dx they were looking for “faces to fill windows” & a bunch of volunteers got rides in the B17’s, sometimes quite a few rides. None got any credit, I don’t even recall them asking names. They just said “go over there & get kitted up”. I also recall that some people got the right hump about not getting rides. Some miserable duffer popped off at me one day in the canteen when I mentioned to someone else that I was going up again.
