The only thing I’ve found that was Spitfire related happened when I was crabbing off a breakwater at Walton On Naze in 1968. Guy Hamilton wandered over to inspect my catch. I was 8 at the time.

Strontium carbonate for red, copper chloride for blue, barium chloride for green, calcium chloride for orange & sodium nitrate for yellow. Mix copper & strontium for purple. White/silver is aluminum, magnesium or titanium… I also messed about with fireworks, BIG ones. Nothing quite like replying to some muppet throwing bangers around with a 10in mortar 🙂

Looks up to the task, but why is the piece at the front bolted in place instead of welded like the rest of it?

Something just *boomed* the town & rattled the entire house, followed about a minute later by something else screaming out of the Plant 42 like it had to be somewhere in a hurry.

It could be argued that Hawkers was actually Sopwith with a name change… & as Hawkers bought out AV Roe before WWII it eventually lead to the Sopwith Vulcan 😉

Does this help? It’s 1/4in wall 3×3 with 1/4in plate on top of the uprights.

Archer: The feathering gubbins on PR is an electric pump. Don’t know if that’s from a Shackleton, I was under the impression it was a custom set up.

There’s a thread on the WIX FB group about this that is hilarious. One guy is claiming to know everything because “I know a hell of a lot more than you. I can get on the sim and copy every little thing that happened. I specialize in this.” He’s also posted a damage assessment of what needs replacing & says it probably won’t fly again….

I just wasted 40 minutes watching part of the show. Total farce. I was impressed as they trekked through thick jungle for quite a distance… & then a bit later it shows the area they had *discovered* was actually right next to a road in someones back yard in a small village. There was a car parked about 10ft away.
