There’s a post on the VTTS FB page from some bloke quoting ridiculous prices people are expected to pay to visit XH558.
They’ll be a few companies around the major port areas. It apparently costs more to ship them back to Asia than it does to manufacture new ones there. Not sure what the price will be in Canada, but around LA they are about $2000 for a good one, plus delivery charge.

Didn’t see it, but I heard the Evergreen B17 flew today.
By the look of that Lynx (??), it appears the RN have finally managed to fly something with more drag & more crap hanging off it than a Swordfish….
Yeah, it was that close… The Black Dorito

Cryptic post on FB this morning
Have it on good authority that folks might want to be down on the “corner” around 1:00 p.m. today (8/4)…
I was running around town taking care of errands & adjusted the schedule to arrive at “the corner” about 12.45. Place was packed, maybe 50 cars there whereas there’s usually 1 or 2.
First thing to take off was a Janet 737 which had just bought people back from Groom Lake, followed by a B2 & then an all white KingAir with absolutely no markings on it at all. The 737 turned before the highway so was maybe 1/4 mile away. The B2 passed almost directly overhead at maybe 300ft 🙂
Some people seem to think they are permanently attached to the crowd fence. I remember one incident at Dx almost 30 years ago when the TFC P47 was backed up to the fence. It was about to fire up & depart for somewhere. This was a regular weekend, not an airshow. Woman was politely told that she really didn’t want to be standing directly behind it (in her white pantsuit) when it fired up. She had an instant strop & gave the “don’t you tell me where I can & can’t stand blah blah blah…” speech.
P47 fires up, departs, woman now standing there in a pale gray pantsuit with various size black spots…
When I lived in Portsmouth there was usually *something* aviation related covered in barnacles sat on the quay in the Camber & then carted off for scrap after a few days/weeks.
Statement from The Ezell Family
“We do not want to speak on the incident at this time as the investigations by the NTSB and the insurance companies have not been conducted to determine the actual cause. There was an apparent loss of power during the landing approach to the runway and that is currently all that is known.
Dustin Mayfield, the passenger on board, has been released from the hospital with an arm injury. Nelson has been classified as critical stable by the medical staff and is still in the ICU. We can tell you that Mr. Ezell sustained numerous injuries and will require only surgery on his right arm and his left eye lid at this time. Today, he was cleared to start undergoing those surgeries, which is a positive sign. The plan is to complete the surgeries before removing the breathing tube and have him fully awoken by this weekend. We ask that flowers not be sent at this time, as they are not allowed at the ICU. We are thankful for all of the love and support and we welcome your prayers always.”

I know some people who do air-to-air. One of them has a Lear set up with periscope cams. I’d be afraid to ask what the hourly rate on that is…
This went over the house earlier, someone else got the pic…

Pretty sure Cobra’s weren’t some of the first helicopters in Vietnam….
Here’s the Huey a friend flew in Vietnam, he was reunited with it last September.
