In related news, during the Summers of ’75 & ’76 I spent quite a bit of time on the beach below the fort when I should have been in school….
Doesn’t appear to have slid very far judging by the shape of the rad cowls & the lack of landscaping/bunnies stuffed in the front of them…. & at least this one is the right way up.
T33/P80 between the A4 & T38/F5?
Between the C119 & 707 is a Phantom & another looks like an F5/T38. Douglas A4 next to the Phantom?
FAA & CAA would have a complete sense of humor failure with that kind of crowd control.
I’ve heard several people refer to that kind of latch as a “Messerschmitt latch”
Meteor is looking pretty spiffy in the post clean up pics on the FB group.

Is it weldable? There is a cracking aircraft welder in Long Eaton
er….
It was a long held misconception. For many years, post service, Spitfires were assembled with frozen bolts, beaten in with a firm hand. Until the original drawing turned up that is, along with an original unused wing reaming kit. Using the original kit, with its Go/No Go gauges, and with a bolt made to the drawing demonstrated the truth of the matter.
I remember an original kit showing up at the TFC hangar one day. I think some old guy just walked in with it & asked “Is this any use to you?”
When I lived in Cambridge there was a photo of the Brabazon hanging on the wall in The Mitre pub that had a load of signatures on it. No idea who they were as I didn’t pay much attention to it. Maybe someone can investigate to see if it’s still there & if so, who signed it…
Help came from a brand new Kubota M6060 4 cylinder 4WD 63.5 hp tractor on loan from the makers.

They’re not too difficult to drive 😉
It’s entirely possible he has spent time actually…wait for it… doing aircraft rebuilds and flying instead of talking/reading or griping about how others do it.
He’s known in C130 circles, specifically with A models. But surely anyone who spent 5 minutes online could find where warbird mechanics lurk? He must have heard of the various museums & restoration groups at some point in the past 30 years? It’s not a case of him being an insider or not.
edit: He’s now deleted his post about deleting his earlier post & whining about people not following directions to msg him. I await further developments…
