FACEBOOK, the largest cemetery in the world, I will never join it, its become a badge a “oh you can find me on FACEBOOK” I find most of the social media utter rubbish and allows cowards to say anything they want without being held to account.
Just about every museum, aircraft collection, restoration company/vendor, airfield & warbird pilot has a page on there…
Someone has been posting photos on a FB sheet metal page recently of tooling used in Germany back in the day, including a doodad for curving Ju52 skins etc.
Where are they going to put the new *Lancaster* hangar?
There’s a new hangar?
Well that is a strange coincidence, passed by this very aircraft last month, still in the back yard of a property at Antelope Acres. We found the location on Google earth and plotted the route from Fox Field. The aircraft and several others are easily seen over the fence and as time was limited we did not feel the need to ask to enter and get closer photos. Sorry if the owner is watching and feels offended.

The WWII US Army Ford G8T truck that you would have also seen is mine.
Latest news is that it’s (probably) about to get an ADF antenna as I just finished making it look presentable. At least that was the plan, when the owner saw how nice it looks now he said it may go on the mantle instead.
On the logbook front: The story/rumor is that there are logs etc, but they were never forthcoming from the previous owner (who has since died) & his daughter thinks they “might be around someplace”. I forwarded the email I got about the logs to the current owner.
My autograph is on several aircraft. On some of them you’d need to take them apart to find examples. Ferinstance, the PR Spit at Wright Patt would need the fabric on the elevators & rudder to be stripped to find 3 examples, but there’s at least 5 more on that one airframe. You’d have to remove skins to find them. Sometimes it’s my name & the date, other times it’s #61 & the date. 🙂
I do the same with car restos & customs. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Tim Allen & Billy Gibbons all own cars with my name hidden somewhere.
This is how religions get started….
If your item is going into a fairly dry environment you could just spray it with WD40;
There are a multitude of products that are superior to WD40. LPS3 is one:

LPS1 also works to a lesser extent. Another option would be gun blueing.
Ok.
For comparison purposes here are some old tools that I found in my shed that I have stopped using due to rust.
My Deox C arrived today and I have placed the tools in a bowl of hot water from the tap. I added four tablespoons of Deox C.
I will leave them to soak overnight and see what happens in the morning.

For the plastic handles I find a wipe down with lacquer thinner followed by a polish with Pledge does wonders. I have 25yo ChannelLocks that look new.
I was at the LA show, the Blue Angels also has issues. They taxied the C130 into a light pole on Wednesday. Broke #6 on the Thursday, fixed it, broke it again on Friday along with #4 & #5, fixed all 3 & then broke #6 again on Saturday. Wasn’t there on Sunday, but all 7 of them just flew over my house this morning.
I did ask one of the TFL guys if they will be adding a kill mark to the Corsair, they were non-commital. C130 also needs a light pole kill on the side 🙂
Mix some Lye in that solution if you want to get it cooking 😉 But looking at that part, I’d blast it clean
Lane is a retired pilot who’s intrigued by what causes airplanes to plummet.
I hate it when that happens….
The plane crashed less than 200 feet above the ground…
Whut?
That area & the other airfield further to the East seem to be still pockmarked with craters.
I remember hearing something about the leading edge of of PR-XI Spits being smoothed with *plaster* before being painted. There was def something that had to be dug out prior to removing skins when I was working on PA908.
