I am afraid that tales of buried tanks, jeeps, aero-engines, Harley Davidsons and Thompsons are legion but I am not sure it was ‘standard American practice’ by any means.
I am also afraid that most are but fanciful legends.
Buried scrap on USAAF airfields has been uncovered, but I’m afraid the crated and buried iconic items are the stuff of legends. I have logged well over twenty such tales in Sussex alone – and this is just supposed American materiel.
I think that each such claim needs to be very carefully examined.

Article makes absolutely no sense. Half the time they are referring to an oil line & the other half they call it a fuel line. If they can’t even get that part of the story squared away the rest of the theory is a very **** poor waste of effort.

I’ve no idea what he did between his arrival & his retirement. He could have been a hermit in a cave for all I know. That bint he married popped up on tv here a couple of times though.

He pretty much did. He was on TV when he arrived in LA several years ago, then he was on TV again when he announced his retirement from the LA Team… Never heard a damn thing about him between those two events…
