An ex-copper told me that in his county a copper would leave his police hat in the back of the car, even when in civvies – the unwritten “LAW” was they would be exempt from a ticket if caught speeding or for any other ‘minor’ motoring offense.

It worked, too! (most times). Then came the CCTV, etc.

Same goes for Firemen. My neighbor got pulled over by 5 cop cars after he failed to see a row of cones on the A23 in Streatham one night & mowed them down in the pissing rain, narrowly avoiding cops flashing torches at him. They finally caught him outside his girlfriends place. He was so drunk that when he shut the drivers door he took the end of his thumb off.
Then one of the cops saw the fireman hat on the parcel shelf & after ascertaining he wasn’t going to drive anywhere else that night they let him off with warning & drove off. GF had to take him to hospital to get his thumb stitched up.

Rick, With ammo in very short supply, do you and others, re load your own used cases, or are you not permitted to?.Many do, over here.

Several people I know do, I haven’t yet,. but I have the dies to reload .303. Friend offered to give me all his late fathers reloading equipment, haven’t taken him up on the offer yet

Anyone over the Pond used the “Extreme Shock” ammunition, and your thoughts on it if you have please. Is it available to the general public?.Used in 9mm handgun use.

Given that they haven’t actually passed budget in 4 years, it would be impossible for them to live within a budget…because they are incapable of even suggesting one… & Obumble is in direct violation of the law that states the POTUS has to come up with one every February….

Most of those agencies train with the same ammunition that they carry on duty. That is more expensive than using cheap target ammo for training but it is the only way to properly train, prepare, and find and solve equipment problems so that they don’t happen when someone’s life depends on it. Target ammo does not have the same point-of-aim/point-of-impact as the duty ammo and may not cycle some semi-auto pistols reliably. Duty ammo will usually have more recoil and one must learn to deal with that on the range. Practicing with low powered target ammo can lead to deadly mistakes in a real gunfight.

Every single cop I know (& that dozens: LAPD, PASD, FresnoPD, Torrance PD, SBSD, CHP etc) all use target ammo for practice. Not one of them uses hollowpoints.

So why is it called a “self defence weapon” when the govt has one, but an assault weapon when owned by a civvy?

Just been looking at “FirearmsTalk” a gun Forum in the USA, one of the Administrators in Texas, has set up a page, urging all members to help locate any stores, anywhere in the U.SA.to inform other members where they can purchase more ammunition from. Seems all the gun shops/stores have empty shelves, such is the run on gun buying and ammo, in the last month.

Anyone over the Pond know something we don’t over here?.

They’ve pretty much all been out of ammo for months. I could start selling off some of mine now at 400-500% profit. People are paying damn near $80 for boxes of .22LR that I paid $15 for… 🙂

I cannot praise the crew enough they were thourough,painstaking and very comforting to both my wife and myself.
They admiistered entonox and then morphine and that was hardly touching the pain. They took her to Frenchay hospital the long way round A38 and the ring road at 15 mph to avoid any bumps which would cause my wife more pain.

Frenchay Hopital we had a 20 minute trolly wait to book her in. That I undestand is to make sure that the patients see and treat target is met as it only starts when the Ambulance crew hand her over.

She then had to wait 2hours in A&E without any pain relief to see a triarge nurse despite me getting more and more annoyed and hounding reception.

She finaly saw a Doctor who asked “where were her X rays” I told him no one had sent her for any. With that he grabbed the wheelchair and took her to Xray himself(he was obviously was very angry at this oversite to put it mildly)

Anyway things moved rapidly after that it turned out she had a dislocated shoulder and fortunately no broken bones. He put the shoulder back in place within a few minutes and my wife was almost pain free.

The ambulance crew were incapable of diagnosing a dislocated shoulder?? It’s fairly obvious & not exactly difficult to pop back in place. When it happens in motorcycle accidents whoever was riding with the guy who crashed usually pops it back in place even before the ambulance has been called.
