As for whether the world needs a Forum, then IMHO it needs the ICC one as it fills a gap that FP cannot or will not fill. in other words a free space where members can offer for sale/swap and request items. I am the first to admit that I haven’t the foggiest idea of how to create or even run a website, but a drastically slimmed down one wouldn’t I hope be an onerous task, although if cost is an issue, I can understand someone taking a deep breath before committing.
If someone wants to request information etc, then become a member and ask a question of the membership, that’s how other Forums work and should take some of the load off Mark.
Whatever happens, Mark should be appluaded for creating this resource in the first place and given us the chance to become the network of owners that we have become.
Thnx Mark for your valiant efforts in keeping it going. If nothing else it has allowed us owners to coalesce and ‘the old boys’ network’ has been especially fruitful in forging links and making friends.
It’s great that the Cockpitfest element will remain and allow people to see the lesser known (ie not magazine friendly) work that people have put into the event.

Get Marshalls to do the overhaul they’ll love another project LOL
Noooooo!
You little devil matt:p
Left hand drive? Nonsense!! It just has the pointy thing on the wrong end…drive her backwards!:D
Wouldn’t that make it Italian:diablo:
just wondering on closer inspection of the pic it appears as if it was tied to the lamppost and the nose was tethered as well to the ground? I wonder if this was a gate guard type of thing?
As the French retired their ac before the RAF and the mishap occured this year, I would think that it is a Gate Guard of some sort. At least you can’t blame the bent pitot probe on conscripts 😀

Thanks for the assistance Terry:)
We have got an escape hatch and some canopy structure. With the able assistance of David Collins we are constructing a 3D CAD model to enable us to manufacture the Coupe assembly. If there are any other canopy parts out there we would be very grateful for the loan of them so that we can reverse engineer.
Work currently ongoing in the background can be summarised as follows:
Pilots seats
Control Columns
Rudder pedal assy
3D CAD model
Once we’re back into our workshop we can commence with proper fabrication work
cheers

PM sent
As I understand it they come in 2 flavours, Lt Aircraft Grey and Dark Admiralty Grey. When I get around to refurbishing them they’ll be in teh lighter colour to add variety to a black cockpit.
Whilst I’m at it has anyone got overhaul instructions that I could use to aid assemby;)
cheers
John
they also need to get the tailerons re-attached but have neither the manuals of the attaching bolts, not even sure they have a taileron PFCU in it to attach to if i remember they are in the upper fuselage just fwd of the fin leading edge
Tailplane PFCUs are attached at the lower position by a bolt in the bottom of the fuselage which can be a pig, If the C levers aren’t fitted to the tailplane spigot for the upper PFCU attachment then these require a gert big bolt which is a tight interference fit and can also be a pig.

Having looked at some of the posts on this thread, I would have to say IMHO that XZ382 is not the best candidate to have as a runner unfortunately. Spares would seem to be an issue and as an ex BDR airframe is probably fairly abused. That said, I wish you well and the APs are there for you to copy:)

If I can make a small suggestion, could the group post on here themselves with a list of wants etc, I think they might be surprised as to how much expertise and parts are out there.:)

p.s. Good chipmunk panels!
You’re too kind:D:D
Looks nice 🙂
Was that done using hand tools? How thick is the material?
Hi Smirky,
Thanks for the copmpliment
16 SWG aluminium sandwiched between 2 MDF formers and the flanges were bent over with a subtle blend of of psychology and extreme violence:D As I’ve got to make 6 panels I made a steel jig for the instrument holes and attachment screws, the knobs were made at work and the 2 retainers pressed out using a small pressing tool.
John
I thank you ;)..
Err, sorry, gone OT. Light grey Stirling anyone?
Not Lt grey, but there are silver Stirlings although not with yellow trainer bands:D
