I’d like a closer look and/or some better pics of that beam but I still have a feeling that it’s the frame 3 transverse floor beam, alternatively it could be Frame 5, we’ve seen the remnants of Frame 4 from BK710 and it’s not part of that
John
No, its part of the autopilot system – I had some new ones a while ago. Has two cables going in at one end, and one coming out of the other.
Hi Bruce,
in that case have you got any left?
John
Hi Windhover
We would be very much interested in these items if available
I have sent you a PM
regards
John
If I had to guess, I’d say that the 3rd pic shows the I Beam at fr3, would very much like to see some detailed pics of that please Cees
John
We visited the castle and associated aviation museum last September, both are well worth a visit
John
Hi Richy
Seen the pics, well done to you and have fun with bringing her back to spec
cheers
John
Just to let you all know that the flight deck has just been allocated BAPC No. 388
John
Forward fuselage to Fr26, or in other words the first 30′ or so of the aircraft
John
Awesome work, that flight deck really looks the part now!
Now they’re all complete, I’m struck by how heavy and over-engineered the pilots’ seats are. Is there any reason why Shorts didn’t just use a sheet alloy seat a la Lancaster (or indeed like most other contemporary types)?!
Thanks for posting John,
That is a real milestone to see the flight deck almost complete. As is acceptance by the BAPC. Will the cockpit have an identity?Cees
TT – and the 1st pilots seat isn’t even finished yet as the armour needs to be fitted. No reason why they chose that particular way of building the seats, but it seems to be the Shorts’ way
Cees – Thanks for the comment, no identity planned at the moment although she will definitely be a Mk III, we have got an idea for the future though;)
John
Good morning all
Work has been progressing steadily on the various aspects of the build and the flight deck is definitely coming together with all of the major components now painted and slaved together. We have also finally assembled the components required to connect both rudder pedal assemblies so that they now move in sync, although this isn’t reflected in the photos below.
We can also report that the Project has now been accepted into the BAPC and the embryonic aircraft is in the process of being allocated its own unique BAPC Serial number.
John
Watch out for spiders 🙂
Thanks Cees
That’s very much appreciated
John
Absolutely certain it’s not with us Cees, we only brought back 2 parts one of which Johan took back yesterday when he met with Kevin and I think he implied that it had gone missing from your stores, I’m sure Kev’ll be along later to confirm this. TBH, I’d think the most likely event would be that it has been accidentally disposed of.
John
Saw her doing touch and go’s at Cambridge which livened up an otherwise boring course LOL
Good to see 🙂
Hi Peter
I think if you contact the RAFM they can send you a copy of the Movement Card
