Some more discussion and information here:
And 737-400s are not the most sprightly of performers either, if going any distance with a load!
Couple of splendid shots there!! That Futura looks like he rotated pretty far along ?
Looks to me like it is at the normal rotation point – I think the taxiway you see in the background is E7, which is quite some way from the end of runway 28.
William, I have searched the Internet for a Digital Ice scanner and come up with zilch. Could you give more information on it such as the make and/or a website please?
Bri

I have been using a Nikon Coolscan V for several years and, while it takes a bit of getting used to and the task of post-processing needs some time too, the results are very good.
Ryanair has been “told” to remove this advertisement by the Advertising Standards Authority. Unfortunately for the ASA, they don’t have the power to tell anybody to do anything.
This ad was run in Ireland last year and was also the subject of complaints and criticism by the Advertising Standards Authority – report at
http://www.asai.ie/complaint_view.asp?CID=404&BID=18
so Ryanair’s decision to use it again was clearly a calculated one.
Not sure why I feel like bringing this up but I thought I’d mention this as it’s the 19th anniversary (21st December 1988) of the bombing of a Pan Am 741 over Lockerbie in the south of Scotland.
Good post. Not to nitpick, but the aircraft was N739PA; though of course the event is usually referred to as the loss of “Pan Am 103”. After Lockerbie the flight was renumbered to the wholly different PA 011, on which I flew to JFK in October 1989, on board a rather tired N737PA.
It was late getting to Waddo, should have landed at Woodford at 12:30 and depart at 16:00,the reason for the flight was to ferry a Nimrod R1 fuse for conversion to MRA4.
The BBC clip showed that it was XV246, which is (was?) a Nimrod MR.2. I saw it at Waddington on 3 July last, at which stage it was still complete.
Conversely, I’ve always fancied seeing a DC-3 in contemporary BA livery…
If you look at this link, profile #37 depicts a Stratocruiser in the current BA livery – yuck! The FedEx and SAS Il-76s look better, I think!
simple answer is obviously.
There used as spotter aircraft in NI.
That’s an Army, not an RAF machine.
So it seems the aicraft does only one sheduled flight, greenland to denmark,it may have been here in Dublin too on a football charter but it could have been their 757 i cant quite remember, anwways i’d certainly hang around in the cold to get a shot if it came in again, brilliant scheme.
It’s the 757 that has visited Dublin on a few occasions, operating for SAS when they have been short of aircraft.
When Easyjet commenced this route, Ryanair dumped capacity on it at low fares until EZY gave it up – then Ryanair quit the route too! Wonder if they will do the same this time – they are sensitive about intruders on their patch!
Have you read Siobhan Creaton’s book?

You’ll find it in any good bookshop in Ireland.

Would be great too see this one restored to ground running at least or is it at this point staged for a move onwards to a country more favourable too flight for these beasts.
Weston aerodrome is very close to residential areas and has a fairly touchy relationship with the people living there, so I imagine there would be quite a rumpus if a couple of Speys were run up!
XV863 is now fully reassembled at Weston and looks great, apart from the faded paintwork. Let’s hope it is well looked after here.
