wasn’t it Halton G-AHDM, BOAC’s one time “Falmouth”?
K.A.Merricks book (pub. 1980) on the Halifax states Halton G-AHDM Falmouth went from BOAC to Aviation Traders; then to Westminster Airways; then converted as Reindeer G-AFOH for film No Highway. So Mr. Creosote takes the prize.
Panasonic DMC-TZ3. Don’t get hung up on megapixel counts at this level, just about the most important thing in a camera is the lens, and the TZ3 has a Leica branded item at the front. Wide zoom range, and more possible variation on control than most users will need. Probable cost £250 or under.
Stinger, I take it that you are aware of the excellent book that’s available on the history of Elstree airfield – it was published about 3 or so years ago and should still be available. The full details escape me at the moment, will try to find out and post again. It may contain a relevant shot of the Spits.

Cheers,

for comparison, does anybody know what the cost would be if this was a standard commercial hire ?
I have (fortunately) only ever seen one aircraft crash in thirty-plus years of hanging around airfields and attending airshows.
It was an autogyro.
Moggy
Moggy, would that be the ‘Pee-Wee’ Judge incident at Farnborough in 1970. That was the first airshow I attended – not a good introduction. Hated the pesky machines ever since, not surprised they haven’t caught on.
…dammit, missed the photo opportunity, but at the time we were in the B of B hall, trying to identify the Luftwaffe types in the dark recesses of the building – is the dim lighting a conservation measure, either of paintwork/perpex etc, or is the museum conserving money ?
A couple of things come to mind. Firstly, contrasting with my early visits in the 1970’s, you can see more of the types represented now flying somewhere or other in the world, even take a ride in some. Secondly, as an experience it is still somewhat disappointing, it could be so much better (more diaramas putting aircraft in context, more cutaways explaining construction detals etc) but I suppose it all boils down to money.
However, nice to meet you guys, please say hello if you spot ol’ 91Regal at OW or Dux.
(Ollie spotted in Hannants later on, not sure if he bought anything though….)
And if it’s not right to give Muhammed’s name to an inanimate object, or as I have also heard an animal, why is it right to let people take his name for themselves?
right on target.

Mrs.91Regal has been persauded to go shopping on her own, so you may yet have the extremely dubious pleasure of my company, Thameslink and London Underground permitting.:p
can anybody answer the original question ?
