While I agree remakes tend to be worse than their originals there are exceptions.
Predators, a remake of Predator was a success. A success because it didn’t try and improve the original, more it was a new film with references to the original.
As long as Dambusters tries to be new I think it could succeed. After all the original can be improved on especially for historical accuracy.
How about filming it in black and white aka Shindlers List?

An amazing show of precision flying and bravery from a select few taking the fight to the enemy.
It’s what makes this country great.

What’s the deal with a sunset display?
I’m conditioned to getting up early for a show. I’ve never been to a sunset display because I can’t judge timings.
I just think I’ll get stuck in the traffic! 🙂
Educate me and I might go to one.

[QUOTE=Robbo;2023254]The Chippy picked up ribbons and chopped bogrolls. The Super Cub picked up the banner. The Hawker duo was one of the best display routines I’ve witnessed.

    Hawkery

Isn’t that a Crow? Beak looks too long for a Hawk.

Interesting seeing the log book with `617` squadron written in it.
When were they designated 617? I thought that was after the raid?
Weren’t they called Squadron X or something beforehand?
    Don’t know, just asking 🙂
    BTW why 617?

It’s sad thinking of the aircraft that have been scrapped after being used as a decorative item.
I can think of a Buccaneer that once adorned a bar, and a Harrier that was hung on the wall in the Trocadero, London both of which I believe were scrapped.
But if no one wants them what to do?

While it is not an activity I would partake of myself why is it illegal?
It’s a bit like making suicide illegal. A bit pointless really.
Going to charge them with having consential sex while a certain cleric who wants to bring down the government can’t be touched?

BTW looking at their faces it’s probably the only sex they will get so go for it I say.

I think it’s great they are recovering this Dornier and I hope they perform a factory fresh restoration on her.
You can only get a true idea what the aircraft was like when you see it complete and in the flesh. Will look great inside the BoB hall.
They should contact Airfix and get a new tool Dornier commissioned.

The red upkeep was the one captured by the Germans.
Are there any pictures (colour?) of the upkeep with wooden staves?

“Pussers” is a slang term that refers to the Navy. Therefore, the Walrus would be the Navy’s Spitfire (very tongue in cheek!).
My father’s cousin served as the ship’s surgeon on HMS Anson in 1945, after serving on various ships (and being sunk at least once!) in the Mediterranean, and witnessed the Japanese surrender in Hong Kong. He to has passed away, unfortuneately.

    Ah, that explains it. Thanks.
My father also witnessed the surrender.
He was a GRUE operator which is something to do with guns and target acquisition.
I have some pictures if you want to get in touch. Just PM me.

I think the problem with a lot of these revolutionary cars, electric, hybrids etc is what happens as they get old.
If they work out costly to maintain as second hand vehicles then they will depreciate rapidly. Would expect them to be unreliable what with battery replacement and the added complexity of electric.
    Not to mention damp starting.

The first record I ever bought was “I’m in the mood for dancing” by the Nolans from Woolies.
Happy days cellotaping 2p pieces to the arm of my stereo to stop it skipping and trying to find replacement needles from Smiths.

My favorite songs of the 80’s.
Baggy Trousers, Madness. Take on me, Aha. Every Breath, Police. All listened to while playing Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Shadowfire on the C64.
