TonyT.
Tony, our local Sorting Office has recently shut. Postmen/women, have to drive the P.O. van on a 20 mile round trip to Spaldings Sorting Office to collect the Holbeach and surrounding areas mail. They then drive round to different locations where the mail is destined for, park up, get a two wheeled trolly out the van, and load the Mail and parcels onto the trolly.
If you have a parcel being delivered to your house, and your not in, then YOU have to travel to Spalding, giving YOU a 20 mile round trip to collect your parcel.
Now, going back 37 yrs, our Post arrived between 06.00. and 07.00. now, last week our Post was delivered at 16.30. It seems the Post now arrives anywhere between Mid day and 16.30.
Hmmm, think I will use “Top Gear” in future.

Post Offices closing is their own fault. They stopped selling Fishing Licenses, some stopped Car Tax, then TV licenses. Long queues and miserable staff. I get everything online now and buy stamps in Tesco’s. They forgot they were providing a service.
It’s the same as banks. My bank told me they don’t change money anymore. So, what exactly do they do?
Didn’t she have a sponsorship deal with Ryanair which ell through?
I remember seeing pictures where the demarcation line had a gap for the sponsor?
I used to live in Peckham and remember the (was it Ryanair?) Sunderland flying along in the distance. I can only assume it was heading to Biggin Hill or possibly down to the coast, possibly Southampton.
I also saw it at Biggin Hill airshow one year and again in Florida with Kermit Weeks.
He said he had plans to fly it from his (proposed) sea plane base.
I don’t think that ever happened.
I have suffered two throttle jams. One in a Ford Sierra and one in my Mondeo.
I had an alarm fitted to the Sierra and part of the alarm, a small box, was shuved up into the bodywork near the throttle. When I had the throttle down it came adrift and jammed the throttle on max.
I suffered a throttle jam in my 2.0 Ford Mondeo. Garage had done some work on the carb. I raced over a hump back bridge and the negative G jammed the throttle open when I had the throttle pedal opened fully.
It was the least alarming thing that can happen. I just placed the gear stick in nuetral. Was handy for the Sierra though. I popped the bonnet and found a fuel leak!
It was an interesting experience trying to drive the mondy home on full throttle. Didn’t half smoke the clutch! Clutch still going strong after 143k 😀

Obviously Hampden thinks it was real, I see yet another American expression has crept in, “It Sucks”.

Taken is a good film. Taken 2 sucks. I rest my case.

The Mossie crashed in 96!!! Blimey, that’s 20 years ago 😮
I can remember waiting at North Weald for the B24 to turn up and it never showed. Had a blown engine.

As awesome as this is, they STILL have not come up with a workable hoverboard!
Trouble is since the TX81 came out they just ain’t in demand.

The burgers you buy at airshows actually contain some beef.
I only use this forum since avi8 closed. avi8 was a far better forum.
I would go back to buying the mag and probably use airfix collectors forum more often.
Forums for me are just an interesting way to spend a few minutes. Not something to take too seriously.
These flight sims have certainly come a long way since I used to play them.
When you had to load via a stack of 3.5″ discs. x 9 with Overlord .
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe , was on 3 x 5.25″ disks:eek:My copy of Overlord was previously owned by the late David Moore.
The problem with CLOD is that it ISNT better than a lot of the older games. I would still play Janes F15 Eagle, EAW or indeed IL2 over CLOD. CLOD just doesn’t work – for me anyway. Definitely sad about it but there you are.
