He also has parts of a Gloster Meteor. Surprised that no one wants that either.
There was a test bed Lincoln at North Weald in the 80’s. Not sure if it was a jet testbed though.
The aircraft was in pieces when I saw it.
Wonder if it still survives?
Wasn’t there a WW1 British Tank Commander that had a cat wich he took into battle.
Both he and the cat survived the war.
So cats are a good luck charm.
Can anyone confirm if a Yak 11 flew over Frimley @ 09:17 this morning?
“Somewhere I have some rather poor photos of that formation”
A very nice photo of the formation featured on the front cover of Sally B news.
I saw the Hercules ran up at Blackbush and I have to say it’s a lot more dramatic than a Merlin.
Would love to have seen a Halifax with four of them at full chat.
The Pt22, is that one of the ones based here in the 90’s?
There used to be two on the airshow circuit in training colours.
“The cynical side of me wonders why the pilot didn’t change fuel tanks during this malady? I didn’t see him reach for the tank selector, which isn’t to say he didn’t, but regardless of that, he did very well in getting it and himself down in dreadful circumstances. I’m sure his wise words will be noted by many pilots. “
The safety guy says near the end of the video “you changed tanks so it wasn’t a fuel problem” or words to that effect.
Maigret starring Rowan Atkinson.
Possibly one of the finest TV Film Detective Dramas I have seen in a long time.
Put your comic prejudiuces to one side and watch this.
Totally engrossing.
Thanks for the info. I too heard about the Manchester Window thing but wasn’t sure if that was accurate or not.
I went for a job at the Commonwealth Wargraves Commission many years ago.
They give a little tour around their museum and point out the Cross of Sacrifice seen in WW1 cemetaries.
“The sword used to be made of bronze but now is made out of plastic as the orginals keep being stolen.”
Sad but true.
To massage a famous Dambusters quote 🙂
“Trashed one of our planes. What were they doing in England anyway”?
replies,
“If you tell him they were based here during the war, would that help?”
Watched The Dambusters and Royal Albert Hall intro at my local cinema in Reading.
I too thought the Glen Miller band a little off topic but liked it anyway. A little piece of nostalgia.
The professor with the tennis balls, was he drunk?
First time I’ve watched a Black and White movie on the big screen. Interesting how the larger scale allows you to see
things not seen before or perhaps cut from the dvd versions. Namely the DH Vampire. The Canberra and the scene where Wallis is wading out to sea.
Still enjoyed it though which is a testament to how good the film was.
Pity someone can’t do a version where some of the effects are upgraded.
Well worth a watch. Enjoyed it.
Just watched Hannover Street and the B25 documentary and enjoyed them both.
The contrast between the boys own, daring do Hawkes and the safety first conservative Talichett was very evident in the documentary.
Do you think the airshow scene is better or worse now that the likes of Jeff Hawkes are no longer with us and we have all the regulations?
re “Avengers: Infinity War
Saw this on Friday. Thought it was great. Lots of actions, lots of laughs. Can’t wait for Avengers 4 to see how they play out the ending. “
I thought it was a series of set piece cgi moments interspersed with a load of booring tosh to be honest.
Not much is said about that Anson but I consider it one of the best restored Warbirds currently flying.
It’s a very pretty aircraft.
