I applied to the CWGC for work many years ago and they give you a tour around their small museum.
One sad fact is that the Sword used on the main memorial is now often plastic. The bronze, aluminium ones get stolen quite frequently.
Nice picture, when googling for it I came across this

I think we have better displays today but, we don’t have the number or variety of aircraft any more.
If I think back to Biggin Hill and North Weald they weren’t great displays by Duxford or Old Wardens standards but they
did have the luxury of many varied types. For example not uncommon at Weald to find a Hunter, Vulcan, Nimrod, F16, Gazelle, C130, Chinook in the display.
Today just the Vulcan and that’s really lucky.
Ironically there are more vintage aircraft at a modern display than modern aircraft!

Thanks for all the replies.
Just need to keep plugging away I guess until I find the right job or reach retirement.
Real shame the downtime has happened now. Expectations being it will take 20 years to fully recover.

How about buring? Its very hot and die easily. Or getting freezed up by water?
I prefer to go the way of a relative of mine.
Toasted in the new year. Got up, went to kitchen. Found dead on kitchen floor. Ambulance crew said he would have been dead before he hit the ground.
Or peacefully in my sleep.

In some ways I envy animals because of this. But then we experience so much more than they do, the flip side being able to experience the bad as well as good. To be as stupid and content as a cat, or as emotional and mortal as a human?
The irony of intelligence is we can contemplate our demise, and theorize about the time after.

Do animals have any concept of death or is it just us humans? Philosophy, consciousness etc.

The Internet obviously has impacted but I don’t agree with the view that modelling is out of date, next time you are in WHSmith, check out the amount of modelling mags.
Modelling is booming, it just isn’t booming on the high street.
I still frequent several LMS’s but their stock is dwindling. Dorking Models seems to be doing well with plenty of stock to choose from.
