The Internet obviously has impacted but I don’t agree with the view that modelling is out of date, next time you are in WHSmith, check out the amount of modelling mags.

Modelling is booming, it just isn’t booming on the high street.
I still frequent several LMS’s but their stock is dwindling. Dorking Models seems to be doing well with plenty of stock to choose from.

If everyone only bought what they NEEDED as opposed to what they WANTED the would would, literally, be a poorer place. Which links in to the second point. People spend money to make themselves happy, on things which give them pleasure. You enjoy old bikes and vehicles and no doubt have spent a few quid in your time, on that enjoyment. We all seal our pleasures in different ways and very few come completely free.

You should have two things in you life / home.
Those things which give you pleasure and those things which have a function.
Everything else is clutter and should be thrown out.

I can’t even comprehend 60’000 casualties. For the people fighting it must have seemed devastating and surreal.
    The aftermath horrendous.
Was anyone every tried for war crimes for the 1st World War. With that casualty list they should have.
My Grand Father was gassed and invalided out of the war. Don’t know about his service record unfortunately.
My mum said he never really recovered from his injuries.

I’m never too critical of the staff in Modelzone. Sometimes you get a member of staff who knows about models, sometimes not.
There downfall is having to cater for such a wide variety of tastes. Is it a model shop, is it an RC shop, Die Cast, Sci-fi, Trains, Toys?
I tend to only buy my paints and glue there. Occasionally a model. Although I hate to say it I’ve been buying most of my models online.
    Free postage too.
I did manage to snag £100 worth of Plasti Card for £15 during a sale!

We’ve had a 1080p haunted fishtank for a long time, but nothing to pump HD images into it.

We finally bought a new Blu-Ray / PVR / Freeview HD box, so can now watch in glorious High Definition.

To be honest, on our 32″ screen, I can see no discernible difference

    Moggy

Is it me or is HD, BlueRay overrated? I can see very little (if any) difference on my flatscreen and it’s a pretty good Samsung.
When I visit relatives they always slap the HD on and tell me what a great picture it is.
To save embarrassment I always agree thinking to myself “Looks about the same to me?”.

On this month’s J L-R job one of the cars threw up an illuminated ‘engine management’ light. This didn’t seem to affect its driving in any way, but obviously not ideal for the delgates, so it was relegated to spare, and given to me for the route planning / proving.

Nice, but not (in my opinion) preferable to a 911

    Rob P

I’m not a `car` driver as such. But, the Jag is more of a `car` than the 911. True the 911 might be a better car but for looks, sex, and wow factor the jag wins IMHO.
    You wouldn’t find 007 in a 911 would you.

Ok I’ve heard Sally B is in Finacial trouble, plus Elly not getting any younger. Must be a lot of stress. Now I’ve been told by a very reliable person that if the worst we’re to happen , she would only be sold, if sold to remain flying within the Uk.. Again this is all speculation and that’s how rumours start. Lets just hope that many more join us current members and keep Sally B flying in OUR skies 🙂

Why doesn’t the Sally B team have a donations `bomb` on their stall and a few people at shows with collecting tins?
They used to do this at the Great Warbirds displays.
I don’t think it’s wrong they cage a few pounds from enthusiasts when the need arises.

Sadly last time I went (about 8 years ago) most of the models were gone. Used to love pressing the levers and seeing inside the trenches.

Anyone care to speculate why only one gear is down?
If hit and hydraulics wouldn’t both gear be down? Perhaps one gear shot off?
