They were closed a day or two for earthquake checks. There was a significant swarm of smaller quakes closer to Blenheim in 2013, resilience is well tested. It might have been more exciting if it had happened while the new WW2 section was under construction.
Note that ‘epicentre’ is misleading, large earthquakes by definition take place over a distance, this one started near Kaikoura and moved NNE, most severe ground movement was a lot closer to Wellington (and Blenheim) than Christchurch, which you wouldn’t think from the notional epicentre.
Lovely stuff. Is it an original rebuild or a new build and is it going back to Australia? There’s a video on You Tube of the first flight of one of the UK built replicas which talks about the handling. Nice to see the Bristol 170 in the background of the second picture. Is it a ground runner?
Yes, the Bristol taxi’s at Omaka airshows and on special occasions.

Edit: One of the hangars at Omaka becomes ‘Restoration Row’ during the bi-annual airshow, with various projects on display.
What, if any were Captain Brown’s views?
Apparently that he did not wish to make any special arrangements about the items in question, and that his inheritors should do as they see fit (he may have made suggestions/requests to them, that’s their business). It seems unlikely that he did not consider the matter.
And possibility of another AvSpecs Mossie
Also TVAL LVG C.VI and DHA4 public displays (and new NZ Warbirds B.E.2)
Here’s an action shot!

Great shot, though, Errol.
Thanks, the distance from the viewing area at Masterton to the runway is a challenge for my skill level, so always looking for ways to enhance the shot.
I’m currently tossing up whether to go to Masterton on Saturday, the wind likely looks too much for flying (and if I want to cancel the rental car I have to do it early Friday).
Unfortunately I don’t have all three of TVAL’s reproductions in one shot.

And this is a good a place as any to mention that the aviation museums in the region of the recent earthquake have all reported no damage and are open as normal. i.e.
Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre (Blenheim)
RNZAF Museum Wigram (Christchurch)
The Vintage Aviator workshop (Wellington, not public) and public hangar (Masterton)
T-28’s are annoyingly high!
I was grateful when the owner of one here in NZ offered me the stepladder he was using for a seat as a photography platform.
AvSpecs gave August as their expected date for flight testing back in April.

Hudson plus Spitfires and P-40s not doing it for you JollyGreenSlugg? Anson and Spitfires in NZ?
Not enough in the budget to get the Kiwi Anson over unfortunately!
Yes there is

But now we’ve had notification that we {Bristol Scout} will be flying as part of the official commemoration on 1 July, performing a flypast of the Thiepval memorial in formation with the BE2F and Albatros of WAHT. We’ll be temporarily French for the occasion, courtesy of our RNAS cockades, and will be operating out of the aerodrome at Albert Bray, which is only 5 miles from the Thiepval memorial, so almost in gliding range.
Geoff, i doubt it, they will just be fiberglass replicas like the gate guardian spits I would think, though they probably have a metal structure internally to support the extra weight of such a large aircraft, I don’t know if any were built as taxiing runners, but again it will be similar with just a stronger construction and possibly to allow turrets to rotate etc.. The sections look as if the rear fuse is detailed and I wonder if that is to allow internal studio shots., or allowing the crews to be seen boarding.a
From memory, they borrowed Kermit Week’s front turret to assist with making a more detailed front fuselage for close-ups. I would expect a similar approach for rear fuse entrance.
