Rule is rules, if we did`nt have rules, where would we be ?……….France!
Great to know it’s finally done, really should put the stripes on the nose to make it stand out from all the other drab coloured Spitfires. Bright colour schemes is what we need!!!!!
How thorough has the restoration been? i.e does it have working guns, original radio etc?
2nd that ! Lovely:D
p.s if you know who`s artwork this is let me know
They do have a good number of unique German aircraft… and many were ‘gifted’ to them by the British as duplicates or not that interesting.
iirc the Ta152 is c/n1500003 Red ‘4’ which was at the RAE in 1945 before becoming FE-112. ‘Our’ Ta152, c/n 150168 AM11, was scrapped.
As for He219’s, there were at least five operated by the RAF – not sure if the Smithsonian one was one.
So… -ve we didn’t keep them. +ve they probably wouldn’t have survived if we did. And the Smithsonian do a very good job of the restoration.
🙁 shame!

There is a second JG26 Fw190 Dora 9 in lake schwerin !
And a Fw190A buried in a marsh somewhere in the south of France
But they won`t raise it as the pilots still in it!
………Allegedly

A replacement kommandogerat (brain box) was located and included in last rebuild. Also, the missing D-13 propeller hub was added–a D-9 hub was substituted in the first restoration.
From what I remember, there wasn’t time to perform any engine runs after new rebuild since the plane was being transported to Seattle. That’s too bad because even a run-up on the ground would have been great to see on video or in person. If anyone has old video of the ground runs from the early 1990’s, please share them.
I hope that Yellow 10 does some grounds runs in the future. I think it is too rare and original to put back into the air and risk losing it. With the D-9 airframes coming from FlugWerk, I think someone with the right resources can get a Jumo-engined D-9 in the air soon, hopefully.
Hopefully not long to wait
JT
Engine can only be run at idle rpm until they find/fabricate
the brain box? I`ve heard it referred to, which automatically
handles RPM/pitch and some other engine management on the Jumo.
Too rare to fly in my opinion.

I`ll second that! surely they won`t miss the chance to double the flightline walk attendance and the associated wedge 😀
taxiable too………. Hmmm, I wonder???! 😎
