Well, I think I know a little about American Politics.

Honestly, during the 2003 anti-french assault, I had quite some bloody discussions with some americans posters …. who knew zilch to they own history.

Have you ever met Obama, McCain, or Bush………..I HAVE:D

I shook Mr Chirac’s hands and it hasn’t changed my life.

    Bad news for the Rafale…

The French government decided to procure only 50 planes (fifty:eek:) during the next 6 years. That means 8 pieces per year !!!! The decision leaves an open door to increase the production rate to 11 per year if there is a major export deal.

No, IN CASE of exports of Rafale, the french gov COULD lowered the procurement for AdA and MN, otherwise, no change at all, the production will stay at a minimum of 11 per year.

The problem for Thales is that they are a generation behind(in Fighter AESA) some of those out there(maybe you can figure this one out:rolleyes:).

Are you really “in the biz” ?

    I doubt of that.
    http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story_channel.jsp?channel=defense&id=news/GRIPEN042508.xml

Saab has disclosed that it teamed with Thales in October 2007 to develop an AESA radar for the demo aircraft. The radar is intended solely for developmental and demonstration purposes, and combines modified back-end components from the Gripen’s standard Saab Microwave PS-05/A radar with an AESA using the same technology as the one Thales is developing for the Rafale.

It is correct that a Rafale can lift much more payload and actually excels in its weight class. But what if you don’t need that?
Honestly, no conceivable conflict for Brazil would see a huge number of interdiction targets.

    Wise words.
Problem, with the recent Russia-Georgia war, many armies remind that nothing can replace heavy gear.
So, perhaps the possibilities of a Gripen fleet is more than enough for Brazil but the capabilities of Rafale or SH is certainly very temptating.

Important for a small air force is the maximum sortie rate over a certain time period, the assumed downtime for maintenance and the training requirements.

Don’t worry, even for the French AF, between the M88-3 and the M88 ECO, the choice was obvious.

Your nonsense is not worthy of a response.

    Thank you 😉

Hardly, it performs its intended role, and is being upgraded to perform others. If the Typhoon is a technical failure then so is the Rafale.

Yes, it performs its limited intended role of the 80’s.
Upgrades seems to be in great danger because of the cost of the airplane even if it sells in great numbers.

From the pov of the possibilities, the Eurofighter cannot come close to those available with the Rafale.

“From a technical aspect, it’s nearly a total failure.” Has to be the most risibly stupid comment on here for weeks.

Being kicked out of any competition based on technical values is enough I think.

It has already not flopped. Saudi Arabia has brought a bunch with rumours of a further order floating around and Austria has brought an example not to mention the 4 original customers. 6 airforces is a pretty good tally and already better than the rafale and the Gripen.

Commercialy speaking, it’s not a flop.
From a technical aspect, it’s nearly a total failure.

The average F3 price to the French customer in 2004 was €50.84 m.

The average Tranche 2 price to the NETMA customer (in 2004!) was €55.08 m.

I do call that a ‘MARGINAL’ difference in price.

The problem is that the Tranche 2 has limited abilities versus a Rafale F3.

We can’t really compare export prices, for the obvious reason that Rafale hasn’t yet managed to gain a single export order.

Perhaps you can take a look at the proposed price.

    Brazil again

    http://www.leblogfinance.com/2008/09/dassault-ventes.html

It looks like a strategic partnership must be signed between France and Brazil.
For sure, the deal for FREMM, scorpene and Cougar.

Of course, for the FX-2, i can ba an interesting advantage.
The Rafale team seems to be ready for an important technological transfert.
