They were obviously attracted to the wonderful BA livery 😉
What a well written article, didn’t get anything wrong as far as I can see. Theres a first!
Wouldn’t expect anything less from The Scotsman. 🙂
Outstanding report! For a second I thought I was there with you it was so detailed! 🙂
Chocolate Ugly Fudge Over
What!? 😀 Weird.
It’s hard to mistake a 767 with a 747, so I’d say it must have been a 777.
Good pics, but what’s the first one all about then?
Concorde might be quite an old jet but I wouldn’t associate it with that era of bikes! 😉
Looking at the flight options from GLA and the time required and cost, it’s not worth the effort for me to be honest. I’d need to add in a hotel for a least one night, flights from Glasgow to London and Cologne as well as the SP flight.
I’m going on a 4 hour photo trip in an RAF Nimrod in a couple of weeks though ? 🙂
You’d could always be really daring and fly from EDI on Germanwings! 😉
Although it may well be that that wouldn’t work either with timings etc.
MAN gets a lot of A330s! and they look so graceful! 🙂
You say Flyjet too, flown on them! 🙂
Superb! 😀 I need to get myself on one of those Concorde tours at some point over the summer!
Excellent pics! Keep them coming! 🙂
According to their website, the 742s have 38” pitch in economy!

Only 338 seats in total!
Yey its true then!
bmi are thinking of starting trans-atlantic service from scotland mate, using the A319LR it seems.
And def bmi will go for more A330’s from MAN now!
Heard about that too.
But will it ever happen?
So now that the post 9/11 effect is calming down, we might just see that service come to fruition some time soon ?
I think Boston-Logan would make an obvious destination choice, or dare I say west coast destinations such as San Francisco, LA or indeed Vegas ?
I sincerely hope so. They could make EDI and GLA work together, GLA having the slightly longer runway could maybe cope with the west coast destinations? and the likes of ORD and East coast from EDI!
Oh yes, that would be bliss! 😀
If your refering to Dublin then youll find your wrong, Dublin can handle an A340 easily and for that matter anything like 747s etc too as VS have flown their aircraft in their to FLS from time to time! (there are pictures of it too)
It all depends on what kind of payload they are carrrying. VS 744s etc. will probably be only coming from LHR. Most airports can handle that!
From Pprune:
BMI are flying direct to Vegas from 31 October!!!
Man-Las flight no BD 737 depts 0905.
Las-Man flight no BD 738 depts 1515.
Operates three days a week Tues, Thurs and Sunday.
Slots into days when Caribbean not going.
I like CO’s livery as it is just now.
Great designs anyhow. 🙂
Something like 11,000 miles in an A330-200 is achievable. Manchester-Las Vegas would be about 7000 to 8000 miles ?
I’d like to see BMI offer US services from Scotland, making them the only UK airline to offer scheduled services to the states from here.
Sir Michael Bishop himself stated they were planning on starting transatlantic services from EDI, but that was before 9/11. 🙁
