WOW! How did you do that!?? Good eyesight young man! You’re quite correct, a bmi A320 did make a guest appearance at BHX today, however, I have no idea why – as far as I know, they no longer operate from BHX.
We saw several flybe. Dash8 Q400’s today (I REALLY want to fly on one of those!) but the reg’s I couldn’t tell you, apart from the one on the photo.
I don’t know if it’s good eye sight or BMI’s distinctive colour scheme? 🙂
Excellent pics, a couple of questions:
Is that a BMI A320 taxiing in the background of the first pic? Do they even operate to BHX?
Did either of you see G-JEDK?
Also, G-OZBG has been based at EDI for the past few weeks, it seems to have now been swapped and is now G-OZBH at EDI, and there’s OZBG appearring at BHX! 🙂
Pick any of the following:
dire air traffic control
localised thunderstorms at night
very poor approach procedures
frequent unserviceability of approach aids
terrain
missed approach procedures squeezed between terrain and hostile Albanian airspace
short, exceedingly rough runway with poor non-standard lighting
2 very high radio masts immediately west of the runway
etc, etc, etcA couple of times over the last few years I have had to refuse instructions from Corfu tower controllers that if followed would have had us flying into local mountains.
OMG, and I flew into that place when it was dark! 😮
Glad I didn’t know this at the time, I would have been soiling myself! 😉
However much I want to rubbish your claims as being exaggerated, your the pilot and so you know best, I’m just the passenger who one day wants to be in the pilots place! 🙂
Corfu is an accident waiting to happen. I’m sure Moondance, Spotty M, etc will agree.
Interesting! 🙂 Why? Please tell us more. 🙂
my first ever landing on the real aeroplane will be after flying it halfway round the world with a full load of passengers
Wow, remember the anti-perspirant for that one! 😉
Corfu is definitely one airport I’ll never miss!
Why?
It’s whether not weather, and isn’t not is’nt. 😉 🙂
Looks like a good website.
Interestingly the Islander was the very plane that introduced me to my appreciation of civil aviation when a Loganair pilot came to my primary school in Paisley to give us a talk about life in the skies.
Good choice Joe.
As for Concorde at EDI on the last day… here’s one of mine….
Oo, look at the curves! 🙂 Another excellent pic.
Don’t you ever EVER say anything negative about Virgin Sun to me! 😀
As most people will know, they are my fave airline I have ever flown, and I absolutely loved the colour scheme!
I flew G-VMED and G-VTAN, which a/c did you fly?
LOL, I also liked colour scheme a lot. The were fine, apart from that breakfast, it was…well…soggy and cold. I also liked the Virgin Sun rep at my resort! 😉
I flew G-VTAN also, both ways as well if I remember rightly.
You should have been there when they unloaded!!!!!
As soon as I took the picture I made a bee-line for the terminal and literally made it to T2 just as the heavens opened. 😎
Did you hang around to see if anything slid off the runway, infamous when wet it would seem. 😉
Still a bit of hope I could end up back there this summer! I hope so
Me too! There’s a few cheap deals floating around to Corfu, night arrival and departure for me the last time I was there, so didn’t see much on landing, with Virgin Sun- who get the award for handing out the worst airline breakfast ever. 😉
Wow! Looks like the world is ending in Birmingham there, those clouds are looking crazy!
It’s an exhilerating place to fly to as well, on landing it’s water, water, water then at the last second the runway appears, just as you’re starting to think where the hell the runway actually is! 😉 and that huge mountain at the other end of the mountain means a steep take-off and turn to avoid it, SXM style again! Hey, maybe Corfu is the SXM of Europe? 😀
The Concorde pic is now the background on my computer. 🙂
Corfu is great(gets windy in the North though! 🙂 ), there is a gangway type thing which crosses just infront of the runway threshold, the aircraft get real close, SXM style! 😀
