RIPConcorde, perhaps it went north to avoid GLA departures if they were using runway 5 there. Therefore it may have headed north then east, then went down the East Coast to Paris.

But what are the odds of the prevailing wind blowing in opposite directions at EDI and GLA? Ultimately, that’s probably the routing it took, but I’m not sure why, although I’ve seen it done before. Concorde on it’s last day for example.

My BAA friend said no damage was done to the runway. The 747 just kicked up a lot of crap that could have cause damage to reversing engines on landing aircraft. Something freds photo illustrates.

Yeah, I jumped the gun abit really, as soon as I saw the assortment of vehicles coming on to the runway I presumed it might have gained some minor damage. It guess the thing in the pic is just a giant hoover sucking up the mess? 😉

Excellent pic, Fred. I knew it used up little runway, and as you can see from Fred’s pic it looks to be about exactly half. So a little over 4000ft, you can presume it was using a large amount of thrust then….
I also noticed the B742 took a very strange departure path, a right turn immediately after departure and then it flew North, yes North (it was going to Orly) until it was swallowed up by cloud… Normal departures for that runway are to follow runway heading for a good few miles before executing the turn to the general direction of the destination, normally left as most flights head South.

OK-TVR should be heading across to EDI soon.

Ah, so this will be to operate the other GSM code flights then that start at the end of this month as frequency increases? I notice that their are 3 departures from EDI most if not all mornings from the beginning of June.

Mmmm not sure how it all works at EDI. Todays PMI flight is with the Channex code.
    23.55 EXS6107 PALMA

That was actually the 2nd PMI flight of the day, there was another with a GSM code this morning.

One thing for sure, is that with those flight codes it won’t be a Channex QC. Most likely to be one of Flyglobespan’s B733s. G-OTDA is the one based at EDI just now so most likely to be that, G-GSPN is still at GLA currently.

Current based Flyglobespan aircraft at EDI just now are:

    TF-ELM- B733 QC
    G-CELR- B733 QC
    G-OTDA- B733
G-CDKT- B736 (saw this for the first time today, SAS hybrid, but will be used exclusively for STN and PRG I think, so highly unlikely to be this.)

EDI will be needing one more GSM aircraft by the end of this month too, although it’s possible it will stay based at GLA and do the old GLA-EDI trick, We’ll see…

Well I can’t say I watch the weather frequently, but I watched it tonight for the first time, and it’s so much worse! What was wrong with the old one that needed changing? All I can see now is rain and puddles everywhere(no sun). (not neccessarily because it’s raining everywhere! 😉 )

Talking of EDI, does anyone know why there were so many bizjets in there today?

10 Gulfstreams and a BD-700, or so I’m given to understand – all lined up in a row, too.

    Any pictures?

That was even worse. I think I need to file a complaint for it being too difficult….. 😉

The FOAI Economic Impact Report which a lot of the economic and employment predictions are based on is also available –

EDI sure is a lean operation! 😮
