What do you mean ‘hope this wont happen’, if the markets there, they will go for it and they will start the flights. Every airline does research.

I did say in my post why I hope it won’t happen.
There are places in Europe gagging for a 2x daily service from GLA, I don’t believe AMS is one of them right now.

Nice pic of the terminal here, shame about the name plastered across the front! 😮

No indication of where it actually is, except for the little type on the sign in the left there. lol Nice looking terminal building though!

I was talking to a friend yesterday who works for BAA.

Apparently it would seem both EK and Zoom have been investigating slots and gate allocation combinations for EDI.

This doesn’t mean they’re definately coming plenty of airlines check this sort of information out and never operate from the airport they investigate but its certainly the strongest indicator so far.

Also, now that Zoom have a 3rd 767 it is not impossible. They may want to compete with Air Transat’s seasonal flights.
And EK, well if they want a monopoly for the Scotland-Dubai route… EDI is a natural second route.

    Interesting times ahead.

On a side note, the same person had heard from his Glasgow conterpart that PIA have been sniffing around.

I’ve read about the EK interest, I don’t suppose they ever really lost interest since when they originally launched from Scotland. It would be a wise move by EK to start ops from EDI to complement the GLA service, just look at the success it has brought to CO.
As for Zoom, that’s the first I’ve heard of it, but have always thought it likely they would eventually show an interest, aren’t the owners Scottish? Would work well for them as the EDI-YYZ market is currently grossly underserved IMHO.

I had a small interest in goats milk production years ago. :p

    LOL!

Hopefully this won’t happen, is there really any need for it?! I’d prefer if GSM were abit more imaginitive and launched a destination currently unserved.
