I don’t see anything wrong with the AMX fitted with an EJ200 and afterburner. More power in military power and of course at afterburner, and with a BVR capability you can get an aircraft similar to the Hawk 200, but with greater capability overall.

The AMX´s currenty version costs more than 25 million dollar. If you want a new engine fitted on the AMX, you´ll need to put some money to test and there´s no space for the afterburner and if you want this device you´ll have to redesign the entire aircraft and in the end you´ll have an white elephant and a lousy fighter. Few year ago, the Brazilian Navy ordered an study from Embraer to develop a carrier based AMX. The BN gave up this plan after Embraer conclude that only the the engineering work would cost more than 200 million dollar without the engine replaced which would be necessary to operate in an aricraft carrier. Do the math.

My advice is, buy an F-16. It will fulfill all your needs for sure.

The SAAB Gripen is so short leged that it can be described as Point Defence Fighter and I believe it´s the best.

According to Globalsecurity.org, this is the currenty inventory of Lybian Air Force.

Let´s see what can we do with this aircrafts.

    Bombers

6 TU-22A/U Blinder = Send them to the junk yard.

    Fighter/Ground Attack

50 Mig-21MF Fishbed = Perhaps they could upgrade part of the fleet to MiG-21-93 standart. I think the MiG-29 is a better option

75 MiG-23B/ML Flogger, 40 MIG 23BN Flogger and 15 Mig 23-U Flogger = Perhaps they could do the same with the Flogger fleet adding PGM capability.

    60 Mig-25 Foxbat = Junk yard. Su-30 is a good replacement.

    15 Mirage F1-ED, 6 Mirage F1-BD and 14 Mirage F1-AD = Why don´t sell them to Iran.

30 Mirage 5D/DE, 14 Mirage 5DD = If I´m not mistaken they already found its way to Pakistan.

45 SU-20/22 Fitter = Could be replaced for upgraded Su-25.

    Counterinsurgency

    24 Jastreb J-1E = Junk yard

    Reconnaissance

    5 Mirage 5DR, 7 Mig 25-R Foxbat = Junk Yard, UAV´s can replace both.

    Strike and multi-role aircraft

12 SU-24MK Fencer = An upgrade package will do fine with them.

    40 SU-22M-3 Fitter = Upgraded Su-25.

10 MIG-25R/U Foxbat, 2 TU-22U Blinder = Some surplus Su-24 could be bought to replace both.

    Tankers

2 KC-130H Hercules = Wait for the An-70 is ready. In the meanwhile used it for spare parts. Buy at least four Il-78 Midas since most of the upgraded fleet with receive probe for in-flight reffueling. The Lybian Air force will need extra capability.

    Transport

    1 Boeing 707-320 = Il-76MF as replacement.

6 Boeing CH-47 = Keep them as spare parts source to the rest of the fleet keep flying and buy 4 Mil Mi-26.

    1 C-140 Jetstar = ERJ-145XR.

15 An-26 Curl = I don´t know if an upgrade is possible. Actually I never read something about upgraded´s An-26.

    5 C-130H Hercules, 2 L-100-20 Hercules, 3 L 100-30 Hercules = Keep them fliyng and wait for the An-70.

16 G-222 = Already to sell on the market.

18 I1-76M Candid = An upgrade with the PS-90 engines.

15 L-410UVP Turbolet = Keep them flying and in the future replace then with the Sukhoi S-80.

    Helicopters

    12 Mi-35V Hind and 35 Mi-24 Hind = Upgrade.

50 Mi-14 Haze = Buy some Helix, put the at least ten as spare parts supply and use the rest as transport.

7 Mi-8C Hip = Up grade or replace the with Mi-17 or even the newest Ka-60

    30 Mi-2 Hoplite = Replace them with the Mi-17 or Ka-60.

18 CH-47C Chinook = Keep them flying, then in the future the lybians could buy the Mi-38 to replace most of its fleet of chinooks.

10 SA 316B Alouette III = Ansat as replacement.

    5 AB 206A JetRanger, 2 AB-212 Bell = Junk Yard. Ka-226 as replacement.

    11 SA-321 Super Frelon = Mi-26 as replacement or Mi-17 or Ka-60.

    80 G-2AE Galeb = junk yard.

20 SF-260WL Marchetti = Good trainner aircraft, keep it flying.

I don´t think Qaddafi will just forget the War in Chad and buy french weapons so soon. Perhaps the lybians will looking for spare parts for its fleet of SA 321 Super Frelon but major weapons form France, no way.

To countries like Lybia, Russia is a much more reliabe source of military hardware. The lybians can get more and better equipment from Russia than France. The MiG-29 is more affordable than Rafales or even M2000, especially if they intend to replace older jet fighter like Fishbeds, Floggers, Foxbats, Fitters and the Mirages. Some Su-30 could be bought to boost the fighter force, more than MiG-29 SMTs.

I´m sorry about the stupid question I´ll made, but I have to do.

Is the Nimrod MRA4 a completely newly build aircraft or the british are refurbishing older airplanes to the MRA4 standart?

The Rademaker when in british service as HMS Battleaxe was hit several times by Argentinians in 1982.

The Argentinians were just trying to finish what they started, but with a 22 year delay.

Let’s hope for you Brasil takes the M2K, then some problems could be solved via Embraer… And of course, you should have some spares in storage, at least for two years.

FAB will not take the MK2 from France or via EmFraer. They don´t want french equipment anymore.

    For example;

Right now, FAB is negotiating the purchase of 10 UH-60 blackhawk helicopters from USA – MAP (Military Assistance Program).? FAB can buy from France, but why they will not do this?

Because the french demand that the aircraft and its main systems must revised only in France. So the plant, Eurocopter has in Brazil called Helibras is uselles. FAB still have similar problems with the Mirage III fleet with the french demanding the major maintenance services must be done only in France. It take more than six months to overhaul an Mirage III engine in france and the bill is astronomical and due this absurd contract FAB never had and stil not having more than 6 Mirage III in flight conditions.

When you realy need a aircraft or spare parts from france the rates always went up. That´s exactly what they did with Pakistan when they offer the Mk-2 for more than 100 million dollar each aircraft. Pakistan couldn´t get more F-16s due the american embargo and the french saw a chance of good profits.

    My advice is;

Never buy a major system from France because they will betrayal as soon they get a chance, like they did with with Israel, Argentina, Iraq and Taiwan.

This is why China never bought a major equipment from France.

I don´t advice noboby to buy nothing from france, even a walkie-talkie because it could be jammed.

When I read something about the french way of do bussines I always remember Star Treck since they look like more ferengs than humans to me. Always looking for a way of increase the profits, no matter the cost, especialy when they are not going to pay.

That was the problem the RuAF had with it from memory.

The whole point of buying only locally produced products where possible is to reduce spending money outside Russia…

But the S-80 built for the russian market would have russian engines, avionics and propellers.

    What don’t you believe?

I don´t believe the russians will kill an aircraft with a good comercial future like the S-80. It also have western engines, propellers and avionics and was built to meet ICAO rules.

Also the S-80 can replace the Yak-40, An-2, An-24, An-28 and An-30 on military service and it seems cheapper to operate than Il-112V and Ilyushin´s airplane is considerably larger.

The S-80, MiG-110 and Il-112V were all competing to replace the RuAF An-26s- Il-112V won.

    Poor Antonov.

I don´t believe at all because Sukhoi offered an airplane project based on the Su-80, a larger version called S-90. Sukhoi itself removed its airplane from the competition by a separate letter addressed to the competition
commission. In the end, only Russian Aircraft Building Corporation MiG and the Tupolev and Myasishchev were participating in the competition.

Four aircrafts built by KnAAPO are flying for Border Guards and Forset Service.

Also the S-80 is lighter than Il-112 carrying a maximum payload of 3,5 tons against 6 tons of Ilyushin´s aircraft.
