What Russia did to improve its C-SAR capabilities since 2008?
IF Russia is willing to enter to conflict on the side of Bashar Al Assad with air support they will need it.
The 2008 conflict with Georgia proved (at least to me) they had none.
Venezuelan fighter jet crashes on Colombia border
A lot of speculation going on about this crash. There is a rumour going on that claims the fighter was shotdown by colombian fighters.
IF Wikipedia is right you are correct since the Mi-17 in question was purchased in 1997 from Russia. Former Hips(Mi-8) were purchased from Soviet Union in late 70´s.
Brazilian police to probe nuclear submarine program – Folha
Not long time ago I made some remarks about corruption in some brazilian´s military deals regarding an allegedly “strategic partnership” with France. The moderators didn´t like my remarks and I was banned for a month. The brazilian federal police is now showing that I was right. Now they have to investigate the FX program (despite the fact Gripen was choosen) and the purchase of 50 EC-725 for more than 50 million dollars each.
Colombia is firmly in US sphere of influence buying anything Russian is not going to happen
The Colombian Army has at least 21 Mi-17 in operation.

If it´s true that the twin seat version of the JF-17 will be (could be) fitted with the M88-2 engine how this will afect the final price of the aircraft? Wasn´t the JF-17 supposed to cost no more than 25 million dollars? A cheap option to replace older planes like F-5, MiG-21 and J-7.
I don´t see potencial operators like Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Uruguay, Zimbabwe(I´ve extracted the list from wikipedia) buying it with the M88-2. Malaysia perhaps but the rest I´m not so sure.
I guess the M88-2 engine is not the cheapest option. I´ve tried to find a source about the price of the M88-2 but found nothing.
From various sources I found that the RD-93 engine cost less than 3 million dollars each.
