My first…
was 1990 only a couple of months after we’d moved back into this country (Dad in Army) at Boscombe Down.
What stood out? The Red Arrows, RAF Tornado low pass, Vulcan, Hunter and the looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong queues for the toilets!
Wouldn’t that be wonderful to see in this country, a Government with the balls to get of its bum and do something about criminals that actually works!
Although I think it will be some time before we see clips of RAF Typhoons bombing illegal ships in the North Sea. :diablo:
is it me, or is that a military aircraft….? lol.:D 😉
got no picture since my hard drive is not working, but I rather like the dragon rapide….. elegant and so very basic. DH seemed to produce some beautiful designs.
I think by the time that photo was taken the Hunter had been withdrawn from military servive a few years before thus making it a civilian aircraft…. :p
I can’t believe anyone thinks it can be anything but the venerable Hunter!
How to close to UK and US shores could Russian Bears get by flying only in Russian and/or International airspace?
So we have the chance to know if the russians did manage to put any noise reduction device on the Bear propsw:dev2::dev2:
2 questions
First what is the supposed combat radius of the Bear and Blackjack?
Second while on patrol are they armed with nuke Kh-55(am i right about the missile type)?Im glad they flying,it seems we’ll have a lot of more pics in the INTERCEPTION thread
According to Wikipedia the range of the Bear is 9400 miles and Blackjack is 7640 miles, I’m sure you can work out approximate combat radius from this.
I’ve heard not the best things about his character in the past. Besides, he wasn’t the first to go past mach 1
To be honest this is something I have thought for some time. Was the first unofficial supersonic flight British, American or German?
I only say those countries because at that time I don’t think anybody else had sufficiant aviation knowledge to do this!
As an example, you could possibly describe the Saab range of aircraft as fitting the bill as Sweden is not known for it’s military might.
High slap, low slap…

Still it is good to see that the once obsolete A10 all of a sudden becomes useful and just because the huge tank battles of the cold war never happened it can be of more use at other things.
curlyboy
Was the A10 used for anything other than tankbusting during Gulf War 1?
Well, no one else had put anything up yet so I thought I better!

Having the engines mounted on twin unit pylons looks absolutely amazing, could it (or has it) been done for real?
These guys most likely. Fancy a ride?
